As the fandom around BB-8 continues to grow, so does the Facebook-based Fan Group "Everything BB-8". One of the more fun aspect of the group has been people sharing photos of themselves with the interactive BB-8 display at Target stores. Almost every Target store in the U.S. has one, anchoring the "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" area of the toy section.

Obviously, many a collector would love a chance to own one of these great store displays. However, word for many different Target stores is that each of these BB-8s has a depressing fate ahead of it: Depending on the story, each one is either to be "sent back" (to Hasbro or Disney? Who knows) or worse: Destroyed and thrown away!!

While we haven't completely given up on trying to persuade the Powers That Be to let BB-8 fans and collectors have a shot at these (via raffles, charity auctions, etc) one thing that EVERYTHING BB-8 has chosen to do is to play off the "Do Not Touch" sticker on each BB-8 Display by... photographing oneself touching BB-8. This may very well be the closest any of us every gets to one of these. And we don't know how long Target stores will keep them on display, much less what their ultimate fate is. So for now, "The Resistance" is formed... and one way to have fun passing the time while waiting on the movie is to head to one of your local Targets and lay hands on BB-8. And be sure to share your photo with us! To date, we already have more than 150 individual "Resistance" photos from all over the country!
