Two years ago TKEL Creations (aka Alexis Dos Santos) came up with the idea of building a working arcade machine based on 1999's Episode I: Racer, and a week ago he and fellow LEGO builder LBAIXINHO finally completed it.

Check out the underneath-the-hood, all-action video below or jump to his Flickr gallery to have a close up look at some stills.

The game gives the player a third person view of a custom-made Anakin Skywalker podracer which can be moved left and right across a conveyer belt, dotted with fences, walls and stone mounds, by a simple pulley control. A LEGO Mindstorms programmable brick with a touch sensor detecting collisions add the playability to the setup.

Six thousand bricks, three large motors, one medium motor, an LED strip and a ton of programming hours went into constructing this inventive build. And if you're thinking that 0937 points is a poor score it's actually the LEGO logo flipped and inverted.

Try not to exhalt "Now, this is Podracing! Whoopee!" Go on, I dare you.
