An elite squadron within the Imperial ranks, jumptroopers (also known as rocket troopers) were outfitted with jetpacks and utilized in tight spaces. They were trained to act in unison, often swarming and overwhelming their targets.

Announced in October 2018 at Hasbro's New York Comic-Con live panel, The Black Series Imperial Jumptrooper is a new trooper based on designs shown in Star Wars Rebels. A very similar design is also featured in the Battlefront II video game, with notable helmet and chest differences. The figure mostly utilizes, the existing 2014 #09 Stormtrooper body, with a new helmet and shoulder armor. Also new is a triangular figure stand. During the panel, Hasbro announced that they intended to collect feedback from customers about this stand to determine if stands like these would be included with future figures. The Imperial Jumptrooper is exclusive to GameStop in the US and EB Games in Canada. The figure went up for pre-order on January 30th, 2019 and began showing up at retail the following April.
