In the 1970's and 80's, Lug and Artima were the two publishing houses adapting Marvel Comics in France. Lug translated the most famous titles like Amazing Spider-Man or Uncanny X-Men while Artima basically published the titles that Lug did not want. It was through this arrangement that Lug obtained the rights to adapt the adventures of Star Wars. All of the US Marvel movie adaptations were published in three comic books, one per film. The remaining comic stories were published in the French comics magazine Titans which, as almost all other Lug publications, contained four different stories. In this format, Star Wars was published alongside Champions, Iron Fist, Invaders, Dazzler, Captain Marvel, Machine Man or New Mutants, among others. In addition, cover artist Mitton created new comics called Mikros and Epsilon, whose adventures were also presented in various issues of the series.
For reasons unknown, a few issues were never published in France. Star Wars issues # 7-10, 16, 89, 94, 98-107 and Annuals #2-3 have never been adapted.
Below is the cover gallery of all the French Titans magazines containing issues of Star Wars, cover artwork notwithstanding. Missing from this gallery is the Star Wars Marvel Pocket, published by Dynamisme Presse Edition.
