DARTH VADER #02 Darth Vader - The Black Series 6-inch collection from Hasbro 2014 The Black Series

After Darth Vader and Luke join forces to defeat the Emperor, Vader asks Luke to help him remove the mask that covers his face."Just for once, let me look on you with my own eyes."

After releasing four waves of figures, Hasbro redesigned the packaging for The Black Series 6-inch collection, replacing the orange details with blue and altering the window to better display larger characters. With the new package design, Hasbro opted to renumber the line and the Wave 1 2014 assortment was born. This first wave of figures included the repainted #01 Sandtrooper with black enlisted pauldron, the Return Of The Jedi #02 Darth Vader with two-part removable helmet pictured here, the Return Of The Jedi #03 Luke Skywalker as he appeared in the film's climatic third act, and A New Hope #04 Chewbacca.

The #02 Darth Vader action figure features 18 points of articulation and comes packed with a lightsaber Hilt, removable Ignited Blade, removable Mask, removable Helmet, and cut and sew cape and tunic. In an puzzling move, Hasbro opted to stick the cape to the figure's chest armor, causing it to fit in a very strange way. Collectors not to concerned with keeping their figures out-of-the-package perfect, snipping these two thread loops greatly improves the figure's silhouette.

The figures in this assortment were first displayed in Hasbro's showroom at the 2014 International Toy Fair, and then publicly in their booth at the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con. All four figures began showing up the following September.

Back before the world wide web and social media ruled our shopping habits there was a long-established practice of driving around all the nearby toy stores to hunt down the latest releases. Obviously times have changed and online retail is far more important than it was twenty-five years ago - but has it killed the toy run? What was your shopping experience over the Triple Force Friday product launch weekend?
I managed to find everything I wanted in stores!
I found some but had to resort to big box websites to complete my haul.
I didn't bother stepping outside and ordered everything online.
I haven't bought any of the TFF product yet. Roll on clearance sales.
I'm waiting for the TV series/movie release before I commit.
I've so over it, no more Star Wars collecting for me.
