The 03 Kylo Ren action figure was released without official preview along with the 01 Finn (Jakku), 02 Rey (Jakku) & BB-8, 04 First Order Stormtrooper, and 05 Chewbacca action figures as part of the first wave of The Black Series 6-inch collection's red packaging design. This assortment was released on September 4, 2015 as part of the Force Friday event.

About This Action Figure:
- The 03 Kylo Ren action figure, based on his appearance in The Force Awakens, is both a character and sculpt debut.
- The figure's cut and sew elements are not intended to be removed. Attempting to do so may permanently damage the your Kylo Ren.
The Second Version:
- When Hasbro repacked the 03 Kylo Ren action figure in later assortments, the figure featured reworked cut and sew fabric elements that did away with the bulkiness seen on the original release. In addition, the figure's scarf was altered to have a more accurate textured look and the Lightsaber hilt's paint deco was tightened up.
