1 Do you have any news from Hasbro about the Action Fleet Series, if it is going to be reconsidered for EP II, maybe 8 ships, or is this line really old memories? -Salo
While there has been no definite word form Hasbro on the future of the
Action Fleet line, they have said it remains a possibility. Collector
interest (according to our own Rebelscum polls) remains high, which is
always a positive factor. With a new movie next year, the Action Fleet
line would be a great way to cover vehicles too large to make for the
standard action figure line. My guess is we haven't seen the end of the
line yet, but the final decision is still up in the air.
2 Why can some people order cases from Hasbro of a single figure for the entire case? I talked to a guy at a show in Dallas who had solid cases of biker scouts, Aurra Sing, etc. They were in Hasbro boxes with the assortment names of the figures printed on them. 12 scout trooper, 12 IG-88, etc. Why can't/don't retail stores have access to these breakouts? They did appear to have stickers on the backs of the cards (that peel off REAL easy) that might indicate they were destined for the UK, but what the heck; I'd buy cases of Biker Scouts at this point. Will the new fan club give us options like this? Can other retailers order this way? -Steve Perry
I have heard of block cases being made available to some overseas
markets, and a few have made the rounds in the U.S. (Jawas, Darth Vader,
and Darth Maul). It's not a common practice due to some pretty
significant production issues. In order to offer a block case, a
tremendous amount of time has to be spent on manufacturing one
particular figure. During this time production on other figures is cut
back, or put on hold. Because Hasbro, and collectors, prefer to have a
mix of new figures released in a timely manner, focusing production on
any single figure simply won't work. If block cases are produced, it
usually comes towards the end of figure run, or when there has been a
break in the production schedule.
Because of the situation with the Biker Scout, I've asked Hasbro about
block cases for this figure. While there's hope future case assortments
will handle the problem, Hasbro has not ruled out the possibility of
distributing a dedicated case. If they decide to take this route, I'm
sure the case will be offered across the board, but until then, it's
simple too time consuming to do for one or two retailers, Fan Club
included.
3 Who would you like to see made next in the POTJ line? -Paul Sir
Feltipern Trevagg (Gotal) from the Cantina.

While some of the features on both of these figures may have come from
previous sculpts, there are subtle differences that set them apart.
Depending on your level of interest for each character, I'd definitely
try to pick up a set or two. I actually like this 2-pack a lot, but they
are, after all, Maul and Vader.
5 What ever happened to all those portrait edition Amidala dolls we were supposed to see last year? We only got the Battle for Naboo 2 pack with Qui-Gon and the purple Return to Naboo doll. Also, why are the 2 dolls that were released in 1999 labeled "2 of 3" and "3 of 3"? I know the FAO exclusive (victory celebration Amidala) wasn't part of the assortment, nor was the Princess Leia celebration doll. -Abel Pinedo
Unfortunately, the second series of Portrait Edition Dolls was cut
before most of it went to production. The perception with retailers was
they weren't really selling, and thus orders for additional figures
dried up. I remember seeing a lot of them just sitting at Toys 'R' Us,
and even more put on clearance through Kay Bee. Even among Star Wars
collectors, these were a niche item, the price was high and they were
not kid friendly. Beautiful dolls, but not something you'd bring home to
junior. Hopefully once things get back on track Hasbro will look at this
line again. It seems there is a small market out there for it, if
production could be tailored to meet demand; they would make nice
collector pieces.
You know what, check Leia doll again. Mine's in storage, but I'm pretty
sure it was 1 of 3 in the 1999 series.

According to the upcoming 'Guide to Alien Species,' yes it is true. I
haven't read exactly how it's stated, but the story is it comes out a
production problem Lucas was having with the CGI Neimoidians.
Frustrated with the development of the computer villains, the decision
was made to go with masks. After much thought and contemplation, Lucas
himself pointed to the cantina creature and said, "Make 'em look like
that." Well that's the story anyway...

Well, thanks in no small part to the hard work of our dearly departed
Adam Pawlus, Rebelscum has an extensive checklist section that covers
all the figures and toys, but none of the countless, mind boggling
variations. We'll be updating the list as necessary and expanding it to
include vintage toys. Look for the link in our Much More To See menu.

Time being the commodity that it is, I'm going to shoot for updates
twice a week. It will depend on the number of questions coming in, and a
number of other factors (work, family, etc...), but I want to stay on top
of things and get a constant flow of answers out to collectors and fans.
9
Well, considering the focus of the site is Star Wars collecting, I will
definitely answer any and all collecting questions that I can. From toys
to trading cards, books to comics or cookie jars; if it's about
collectibles, I'll post it. If I don't have the answer, I'll do my best
to find one or I'll open it up to the community to find one for you.
I'm also a Star Wars fan, so I'm open to talking about all aspects of
the saga. If something is topical and relevant, I might post it, but
otherwise I'll probably just reply by email.
I also like to think of myself as a nice guy. If you want to drop me a
line on USC Football, or who just got booted off of Survivor, I won't
post it, but I will reply. Basically, I just want everyone to have a
good time with the section and get a little something out of it. No
matter what, it will definitely be all about Star Wars.
