Welcome back... Here's our Question 10 recap:
Hi Mark, Lately I have been trying to find a Darth Maul robe and I have only come across the cheap costume version. I figured I could just make one myself if I found a pattern somewhere but again I have come up empty handed. Do you know of a place where one like myself could find the sewing pattern for such an item? -T-dog.
From the responses coming in, it doesn't look like there's a licensed pattern out there, but there are a good number of sites that have tons of reference photos for the do-it-yourselfer, and a few that sell reasonable facsimiles. One reader mentioned picking up a McCall's pattern at Wal-Mart, not official but close enough, you might give that a try. Otherwise here's a list of sites that might have what you're looking for:

On with the show:
1 Do you know if the pit droid two packs that are coming out of Europe now have it so you can put the pit droid inside the little suitcase that it comes with, or if the suitcase/trunk opens at all? The trunk on the first set of figures does open, not as a suitcase, but the top comes off. I tried a few different ways, even taking the head off, but the Pit Droid does not fit inside. As for the second set, sorry I can't help you there. I haven't opened the sets I have, it looks like the case might come apart, but I can't be sure. It does look like the case is too small for the droid, but again, I can't be sure. 2 New Hasbro lists say we might get a Snaggletooth action figure? But don't we already have one? A red Snaggletooth was included in the Cantina Alien 3-pack. Will this new Snaggletooth be a new version of the red one (boring) or will this be the blue one? Also, were there 2 'Snaggleteeth' in the cantina? I remember reading something about brothers. -Scott When Hasbro first told me they were doing a 'Snaggletooth' I asked right away if it would be a 'Blue' version. As Hasbro told me, since there were two of these figures in the vintage line, they thought it would be fun to have two in the modern line. The figure is currently 'under construction' so I can't say for sure, but I'm told it will be different than the one in the Cantina Aliens Cinema Scene. 3 I am trying to remember what month (in the year before E1 came our way) that we got our eyes on the teaser trailer. Was it November? Or was it earlier? I am trying to figure when to start watching for it. -Jedi Mike How soon we forget. I remember, because it was so close to my birthday, that the first trailer hit theaters in November 1998. If all goes well, and Rick McCallum has hinted it would be about the same time of the year as the first one, we should see the first Episode II trailer in November 2001. Odd isn't it, that the U.S. television premier of Phantom Menace, on the FOX channel, has been pushed back to November... 4 In your May 9th column you mentioned how Hasbro plans to "not make the same mistakes that they made in 1999." Does this mean that Episode II figures are going to be really hard to find initially and Midnight Madness is going to be even more maddening (considering Toys R Us even does the midnight thing again)?
No. Based on the numbers from the Episode I line, Hasbro has a very good feel for what sales should be in a movie year. Production will likely be stepped up from what it is now, but very conservative by Episode I standards. The key here is that things won't be allowed to get out of control like they did in '99. Hasbro will probably stick to their plan, and if certain items take off, they will focus on making more of those.
Everyone admits to being blinded by dollar signs after the May 3 (Midnight Madness) sale, in the end it caused a lot of problems. I seriously doubt we'll see an "organized" midnight sale this time around, we asked at Toy Fair, and the impression I got was definitely not. I imagine the line will be released in much the same way new product is shipping now. Figuring in transit time, once Hasbro is ready for it to be on the shelves, it will go out. Hopefully it will be as easy as walking into your favorite
store one day and it will be there.
5 I was wondering if you, or any of our readers have in their collection or have actually seen the 2nd set of 3 Epic collection Micro Machine book sets (#4-6)? I have seen only images and have been trying to find them for some time to add to my collection, but to no avail. I would think that searching on eBay for the last 2 years would've produced something, but I am at a total loss. Were these sets actually produced in any great number, or were limited to overseas or what? Any info would be great. -Sean If I remember correctly, these never made it to retail in the U.S. At one time they were available to order directly from Galoob, that's how I got my set. I do believe they were sold overseas, I know I've seen a couple lately on eBay from the UK and Europe, but you don't see them regularly. There's no sure way to tell what numbers they were produced in, but I imagine it was very low. The first sets didn't do very well at all, and once retail failed to order subsequent collections, I'm sure production was halted. Your best bet, unfortunately, is to keep watching eBay. You could try hitting some of the forums and message boards dedicated to the Galoob toys, but from what I hear, most of the collectors in them are all pretty much in the same boat as you. Good luck! 6 I would like to know if there is any chance that we will see the proprietor from the "food" stand in Episode 1 that Jar Jar took that frog like creature from? He was made as a Pez dispenser but I would love to see him as a regular figure. Thanks. -Eric Frank What a GREAT figure that would make! Gragra (aka Swokes Swokes) is actually one of my personal favorites from Episode I. Anyone that gives Jar Jar a hard time is okay in my book! What are the chances he'll be made into a figure? Well, with enough fan support, anything is possible. I ask about this one quite a bit, there's been no indication he's been considered yet, but that could easily change. I'm sure we won't see him next year, 2003 would be about the first time it would be possible, but Hasbro is no where near thinking that far ahead. I'll keep the pressure up, he did pretty well in our Episode I Top Ten, with any luck I'll have good news late next year. 7 I am hearing rumors that trooper figures are being scaled back to one per case with more scene specific individuals packed 3 to 4. What is Hasbro thinking? -David Well, rumors are rumors; even some of the case pack information out there is wrong or incomplete. I know Hasbro has done an excellent job of shipping solid cases with all new figures, so I imagine you may have been mislead. The case assortments for the rest of the year look to be pretty even, though a few earlier cases were limited. The Gungan Warrior for instance, was packed one per case originally, but since has been showing up two per case. There are also additional cases for the summer that are filled with some of these harder to find figures. The new approach at Hasbro seems to be, get the figures out there when they're new. I seriously doubt, with all the army builders they have in store, that they would intentionally short pack any of them. 8 With all the talk about the POSSIBLE crashed X-Wing and Snowspeeder, has there been any talk about what the pack-in figures would be? If not, what would you like to see? -Scott There have been a few rumors, but nothing has been confirmed yet. Hasbro is close to finalizing the plans for these exclusives so we should know soon. My guess for both of these is that we will either see some kind of Luke figure, or no figure at all. It strikes me as odd that Hasbro would have a Luke X-wing pilot in the action figure line and as a pack-in (much less two pack-ins). Though it would be nice, some how I don't see the Snowspeeder coming with just Dak, nor do I see it coming with two figures. A new Dagobah Luke would be cool with the Crashed X-wing, but my biggest question is if we'll see a revamp of the X-wing based on the '78 mold, or one based on the FX X-wing_ Only time will tell. 9 When the original Trilogy was re released last year, was it available in wide screen format? I can't find it anywhere in that format. I asked the employees at my local Suncoast Video store and they told me that, "George Lucas had made a decision not to release the trilogy in wide screen format ever again." Was this true or were they lying to me? -Chris I don't want to call anyone a liar, but they weren't telling you the truth. A set was available in letterbox format, though it was not easy to track down. I actually picked mine up at my local Suncoast Motion Picture Store, so it strikes me odd that yours wouldn't know about it. I don't recall seeing it sold in places like Target or Wal-Mart, if I were you I'd try stores that specialize in videos and DVD. I'd suggest Amazon.com, but I just checked and they're out of stock. If nothing else, there's your proof. Good luck! Tenth Question: "This one's for you..."

I recently bought the Applause Luke in Bacta Tank statue. The light does not work on it. I have tried a new set of batteries without any luck. Do you know how to change the light bulb? -Steve
Corrections & Amendments:
You ever go to a party and can't wait to tell everyone this really cool story you heard? You get there, make your way through the whole schpeal, then everyone just looks at you (blank faced) and says, "Yeah, we know..." Anyway, I got quite a few emails from people that thought they had a naked "party" Amidala. Turns out, upon closer
inspection, many of those that thought they had one, realized they didn't. Maroon might have been the wrong choice of words, but the legs on Theed Amidala are definitely a dark, reddish-brownish, flesh tone. While it may look "nude" it's not the same color plastic used on the original model. A quick test would be to compare it with the Senate Amidala. If anyone out there comes up with a match, you are a very lucky dog!
Until next time...
