Hasbro 2003 Preview

Other Toy Lines A large GI Joe display greeted visitors in the main hallway, and the presentation of the line included an great CGI animated short that focused on the upcoming SPYTROOPS animated special, due in October. One could not help but think that the people behind this series should consider moving over to the Clone Wars toys, because there was a lot of excitement generated buy the video clips. Look for more figures in the 12" and 3-3/4" scales in 2003, including a great rendition of a HUMM-V, a B.A.T. Troop Builder Pack, and a tribute to the classic Deep Sea Diver figure.
Transformers returned in a big way last year, with the comic book series ranked as #1 for six straight months. The ARMADA animated series is a doing well in the ratings, so look for more toys based on that this year. A new line called UNIVERSE is planned that will see the re-release of previous toys from Generation 1, Generation 2, Beast Wars, and Beast Machines. The very large UNICRON toy was given a lot of attention, and rightly so. This toy is simply HUGE and will please many fans.
ZOIDS will return with more additions and some classic re-makes. Look for model kits, super model kits, and action figures as part of this line.
2003 will also see the return of MicroMachines, as the smallest cars in the world will include not only a series of mini-vehicles but also a number of playsets, some of which transform into other vehicles. Sadly, there are no Star Wars-themed MicroMachines for 2003.
Stikfas will see a few new designs in 2003, as new bodies types are on the way, including a Delta Boy Extreme, Segmented Robot (with articulated fingers!), and Beta Female Warrior with Dragon. Also on display were a few customized Stikfas from various creators.
