The letter column in this issue, Jedi Journals, features a letter from Martin Thurn, fellow DCSWCC member and proprietor of The Star Wars Collector.
Several errors or potential missteps occur in this issue, including Oss Wilum stating that Gudb's blaster shot 3DO, when it was a Weequay (see last issue), and Oss also referring to the plant they are on as Arkania, and not Ambria (as mentioned in the "opening crawl").
Vima appears to have a stuffed Ewok doll that she plays with in Master Thon's hut.
Reflecting on the months that have passed since she joined as the apprentice of Master Thon, Nomi Sunrider watches as her daughter Vima plays with some small sauroid creatures called neeks. Vima gets to close to the dark side waters of Lake Natth and a dark-side dragon emerges. Using her burgeoning Force powers, Nomi causes the dragon to believe it is fighting another of its kind. Hearing the dark voices of the waters, Nomi retreats, confused, back to Master Thon's abode.
She recalls happier days, when her husband Andur was alive. He would travel often, as was the way of the Jedi, but he would always return to their home. She now understands that things will never be the same again. She approaches Master Thon, a large beast, who understands the pain within Nomi, but realizes her time to train has begun.
In the Stenness Node, an Ithullian Ore Hauler, made from the carapace of a Colossus Wasp of Ithull, is under attack from pirate ships. Captain Gruna orders his Hutt-appointed protectors to stop the pirates. An over confident pilot, Dreebo, makes a valiant attempt but is vaporized by the pirate ship.
The pirate captain Finhead Stonebone, orders his crew to begin sucking out the cargo of mutonium ore from the giant hauler. Oblivious to any other threat, Stonebone's pirate ships are captured by a giant Dreadnaught, Enforcer One and ferried back to the Hutt's private moon in orbit around the planet Taboon. Stonebone and his crew are brought out of his ship by a group of Weequay enforcers and informed that he has an upcoming meeting with Bogga the Hutt.
Oss Wilum explains to Nomi a little background about Master Thon as he makes repairs to her droid, A-3DO. She confides in him that she is frightened of Thon, but glad that Wilum is with her. He smiles and tells her that he is leaving momentarily with the Twi'lek Tott Doneeta. They are to join with Master Arca and his apprentices to assist with the Freedon Nadd Uprising.
On Bogga's private moon, Bogga chides Gudb for failing to bring him the Adegan crystals from the Jedi's wife while threatening him with his new pet, Ktriss, a dark side dragon from the waters of Lake Natth. Grimorg the Weequay brings Finhead Stonebone and his crew before Bogga, who offers to spare his life.
Master Thon explains to Nomi that she need build a lightsaber from the Adegan crystals she brought with her to Ambria. She balks at the idea of ever holding that dreadful weapon again. It brings back too many bad memories of her husband's death. Thon agrees for now, but informs her that he believes her destiny rests with a lightsaber. Nomi, Thon and Vima set out for a day of training and Nomi tells 3DO to take her ship and travel to Andur's teacher, Master Chama, if they should fail to return.
Meanwhile, Bogga tells Stonebone he will spare his life if he will kill Master Thon for him and bring him the Adegan crystals. Stonebone passes on the offer, until Roko is brought before them and placed in the arena with Ktriss. The dark-side dragon makes quick work of the first mate, and Finhead Stonebone realizes he has no choice but to do the bidding of the great Bogga.
