To date, the first four issues of X-Wing Rogue Squadron have never been published as part of a Trade Paperback.
Above the planet Cilpar, the X-wings of Rogue Squadron, attempting to assist a food convoy to Mrlsst, dogfight with a group of TIE fighters. After destroying several 'eyeballs', Wes Janson's ship is damaged and he crash lands in the jungle. Wedge and the rest of the Rogues return to base as Tycho checks out the crash.
Near the city of Kiidan, Wedge and Shabba, an alien member of the ground crew, cover up the fighters. Wedge expresses concern that they haven't been able to contact the underground or Targeter. Shabba tells him that they know there is an underground and that it's run by a woman, but that is all. Noting that their plans were leaked to the Imperials, Plourr questions Tycho and Janson's allegiance. Wedge and Derek vouch for their teammates and discuss what they do know -- that Targeter is their liaison, she's a woman and she failed to show.
Meanwhile in the jungle, Tycho pulls Janson out of his crippled craft, as the afterburner explodes. They make it to the safety of a cave. Tycho goes in first to check it out and is attacked by a green, flying reptoid. Blasting it with his sidearm, he decides to cook it for dinner and see how it tastes. He then tends to Wes' wounds and calls into base.
Wedge informs everyone that Tycho will be flying out in the morning. Plourr believes that Wedge is not reacting properly to the situation at hand. She thinks they are in deep trouble, having run into the blockade. Wedge tells her she's over reacting; that the TIEs probably don't know the war is over. At that moment they Rogues are startled by four strangers with guns; two men, a woman and a wookiee.
The woman identifies herself as Elscol Loro, and reveals that she has been fighting off both Alliance and Imp attacks for six months. She takes Wedge and associates into the town of Tamarack, to show them what Boren Tascl, the local Moff, has done to her home. She explains how the Moff has treated her mother as they find a dead grocer hanging from a light pole and gripes about the betrayal by the Alliance. Wedge tries to convince Elscol that he is actually part of the Rebel Alliance and not just a mole placed by the Moff. He tells her that Targeter is the case officer in charge. Elscol denies every knowing him. Wedge corrects Loro, that Targeter is a woman. He also wants to know how she can be so sure that she wasn't betrayed by one of her own. She claims to know her men.
Back at the cave, as Tycho and Janson enjoy the gamy reptoid meal, Tycho tells Wes why he switched to the Rebels after being the Imperial Navy. Wes jokes that he must be hallucinating from the meal, since he sees Princess Leia standing behind Tycho, holding a blaster. In fact, a woman is standing behind the men, that looks very much like the Princess, holding a blaster on them!
In Tamarack, Wedge helps Elscol look through the ruins of her house, as she explains how her husband Throm, rescued Groznik the wookiee from an imperial base on Endor. They returned to Cilpar to fight the Moff with Groznik adopting Throm in a blood oath. When Throm was killed in a battle, Groznik turned his allegiance over to Elscol. Wedge continues to convince her that he is part of the Alliance and explains how he and Wes along with Lando Calrissian destroyed the second Death Star.
She finds an old music ball that plays the song "Starlight by Moonlight", which Dllr, the sullustan member of the team, easily identifies as a music lover. Dllr hears armored vehicles approaching, but before the team can take cover an AT-ST and another bipedal assault walker arrive led by an Imperial Officer waving his gun at them, ordering their surrender.
