According to the inside cover, the events in this issue takes place three weeks before Revenge of the Sith.
The name of character Ausar Auset, was taken from the Dark Horse Message boards where a regular poster, Roger from Montreal, goes by the user name 'ausar_auset'. Here's the thread in which he suggested the use of this name for a Jedi.
Kelkko is misspelled Kelko in one place in this issue.
Commander Faie is mentioned and seen in this issue as well as the next. He was an unused clone design from The Art of Revenge of the Sith and can be noticed by the robe and cloak he wears over his head and shoulders.
The Republic has engaged the Separatists on the desert planet of Saleucami. Jedi Master Oppo Rancisis sits in quiet contemplation, using his battle meditation skills to find the proper way to strike the enemy to allow for victory.
Meanwhile a small band of Jedi engage the enemy. The Seps are using Morgukai clones trained by Anzati assassins in the battle, and it has been a hard five months since the siege started. Master Rancisis has revealed to Quinlan Vos that a "path below" will be revealed that will lead them to victory.
The Jedi are waiting for their air forces to take out the shield generator; while the air forces are waiting for the ground forces to knock out the ion cannon. It is mass chaos on the battlefield, and some Jedi do not survive.
After an explosion, Quinlan notices a path to an underground tunnel and orders Jeisel to accompany him while K'kruhk, A'sharad Hett and some Galactic Marines hold off the Morgukai. Quin and Jeisel find the conduits to the shield generator and place thermal detonators around the facility.
Once these explode and bring the shield down, Aayla Secura and her starfighter squad are able to destroy the ion cannon.
The enemy begins to pull back, but the fight is not over yet. Vos orders his companions to hold the ground they have gained while he returns to their HQ and prepares to move it forward.
Deep inside the Separatist base, an explosion destroys some machinery and injures some Morgukai who are too close. A haggard Master Tholme steps from the smoke; grim determination on his face.
Elsewhere Sora Bulq and Bok discuss the explosion at the cooling planet. Bok figures it will take a week to fix, which starts an argument between Rath Kelko and Bok. Dooku, who is observing via the holocomm, chides his men for not being able to stop a lone man. Kelkko says he has an idea that just may work.
At the local cantina Khaleen meets up with with Skorr and two of his Anzati trainers. He tells Khaleen to pass the following on to Quin: He will slip inside the shield and make a full accounting to Dooku. He will do this because he is loyal.
Back at the Republic camp, Master Vos reports back to Master Rancisis letting him know that they have secured the rim and will be moving the base camp forward. Rancisis wishes they had someone on the inside of the Seps compound. Vos reminds him that they have Tholme helping them.
Master Rancisis leaves as Aayla Secura enters and tries to talk with Quin about their encounter on Honoghr. She promises that she will always be there for him in his time of darkness.
Quin returns to his quarters and finds Khaleen playing with his holocron. She gives him the instructions from Skorr, but tells him that it's a trap. He understands that and holds her close. Later after she is asleep, he pulls his holocron back out and records this note: Soon he will meet with the second Sith, Sora Bulq and he will kill him.
