I'm all burned out about space junk
1 So, what do you think of the new Anakin? -Jason
I think they could've picked more flattering head shots.
Unlike most of E1's cast, I haven't seen something with this guy before. So I can't comment on his acting ability, but in keeping the typical tone of the column, he looks like he'll make a good action figure.
2 Why do some characters in some parts of their dialogues use "erthling" concepts. Such as the time Anakin says to "Padme": "You look like an ANGEL". Why is it that in a Galaxcy far far away, they have such a term? And what about when Anakin says to Jar Jar to be careful or he will be turned into ORANGE goo. Orange he said? Ok. so, it grows here in Earth, and tatooine too. Orange is a Universal fruit. Kind of like the mistake of A New Hope's attraction beam instructions in English (personally, i haven't see that mistake myself). -Valdezlopez
Well, for starters, Star Wars was created by an earthling, and developed by many of them (unless you believed the movie Men in Black, which I guess is entirely possible.)
Orange is more than a fruit, it's a color. So when he says orange goo, he may not be referring to the fact that Jar Jar will have a pleasant citrusy smell and be sticky when he gets on your fingers. Since the orange's color is just like it's name, much like the lemon (I'll dig up a cool prize for whoever catches that reference I'm thinking of), well, stop freaking out.
Remember that Star Wars is a fantasy film before sci-fi (or at least it was.) As far as the SW Universe is concerned, odds are any space-culture has some form of angellic being, and you can always pretend this was the translation to Basic (English). After all, him saying "You look like a Hoobiechawa" (fake word, folks) or some new word invented for the SW Universe that MEANS angel would be a pain in the butt. If they had to hand everybody a card to explain things like this, we'd be watching Dune or so
mething.
The ANH "mistake" wasn't really a mistake-- that's just the way it was. There really wasn't much to read in ANH, and the little text we saw happened to be in English for our convinience. Otherwise it might not have been quite so obvious what the "crazy old man" was up to.
3 Do you have any "official pictures" of the upcoming new packaging changes of the POFT 2/Ep 1 new assortments to be released next month (Not the mock up from the Toy Fair) and is the Luke Bacta Tank going to be released this year ? -Leightonbigal
On the packaging, no, and neither does anybody else as of today. (Watch, the dudes at the Outerrim posted it in the last 30 seconds or something. :)
As far as Bacta Luke, we've seen no images. And when I see no images, I begin to form doubts. Until you see an image, well, don't take anything as totally official because things make their way to "official" lists long before the official go-aheads are given.

Is "Shmi" pronounced "shmee" or "shmy" (rhymes with 'pie')?
The first memories of the name I can pull up are from the ROTJ read-along tape where it was (and man, I hope I'm remembering right) like the band or plant, Bush. Or was it more like Boosh (moose)?
I typically say "Bounty Hunter disguise" because everybody knows what I mean.
Another popular local pronounciation (my bud Kevin's fave) is "Bosh" (like "Posh" or "Mosh" [pit]).
As far as Shmi, I've gone with "Shmee" so far. And will continue to do so until proven wrong on national television.
Since it's never been uttered on the silver screen, one could argue there is no correct pronounciation, like the Executor or Gamorrean (which I still insist is ga-more-e-an.)
5 hi. I have the n64 game console so i won't have access to games like star wars demolition, jedi battle powers, and star wars super bombad racing when they come out. are there any plans to release them for n64? How do they decide which games go to which console? I know they did that for Episode I racer for dreamcast and macintosh, etc. -Mijeje
Prepare for an answer you won't like.
When I was younger, there were a lot of games on the Sega Master System I really wanted. Sure, I loved my NES, GameBoy, Vectrex, and whatnot, but still, there were some really great games on the SMS. I didn't get one until around 1996, until the system was dead, and now can enjoy playing it and getting new games quite cheaply.
If you want to play all the games, you've got two options: buy all the consoles or wait until the consoles die. (I didn't get my Genesis/32x/Sega CD combo deal until 1996 when each component was available used for less than a game, plus they each included a coupla titles each.) The N64 is pretty much dead... short of a few major releases, I wouldn't expect it to last more than one more year. I'd reccomend saving up for a PlayStation (dirt cheap used) and/or a Dreamcast, or if you're feeling saucy, ask
ol' St. Nick for a Dreamcast this year. Ports are typically a bad thing... look at CastleVania: Symphony of the Night. The Japanese Saturn version has a lot of little glitches the PlayStation version doesn't, but it does have a few extra areas. Games that see lots of ports like Tony Hawk are the exception these days, ya simply can't be much of a hardcore gamer unless you have at least half the major consoles on the market. (And most of the older ones.)
And for the "most likely to get me yelled at" comment of the day: when it comes to SW console titles, you usually aren't missing much. The PlayStation's Star Wars roster has been somewhat dismal (yet mildly entertaining, Teras Kasi is a guilty pleasure), while I enjoyed the 3 N64 SW titles most would disagree, and well, the Super NES ones just plain rocked, especially over the two NES stinkers.
(Right now, there's quite a few more consoles on the horizon. Sony's PlayStation 2 is due in the US this October, Nintendo's GameBoy Advance [which has me very excited] is due here next year some time, ditto with the Dolphin [follow-up to the N64], along with Microsoft's X-Box. Dunno what's going on with the Nuon these days.)
6
Also, can you tell me/us more about Plo Koon? Who is
he/she, what is he/she, where did he/she appear in E1?
And there is a figure called Amanaman from the POTF1
collection. I have it but, as you know, the POTF1
line was an assortment of unmade characters form all 3
Trilogy movies. Which movie is it from?
Except for the Darth Vader TIE and Power FX X-Wing, all POTF2 vehicles
that existed in the vintage line are usually just flat-out repaints.
With new pegs for figure feet. The Landspeeder saw some nice
modifications, but the A-Wing was a step down from the Droids version
(and yes, I can say I've played with both to verify the original landing
gear works better). The Y-Wing has a dedicated R2 unit (that's Hasbro
terminology for "not removable"), so there have been changes to the
molds in most ships, just not significant ones.
Plo Koon's an alien Jedi who was originally a cyborg in the development of the film. Now... well, all will be revealed later as to motives, origins, and more. Except for Stormtrooper Luke, all POTF1-exclusive characters are from ROTJ, somewhere. Amanaman is easily seen in widescreen copies of ROTJ, in Jabba's palace.

Nobody knows. Odds are there are more out there somewhere, because they should at least exist in numbers great than the cancelled Star Brigade Manimals... I've been searching for a Vlix for longer than I care to admit, I've given up because the prices are far too rich for my more-or-less unemployed blood.
I have never heard of anybody talking to Glassite recently, I'm not even sure if they're still around... considering the rarity, I would assume that the item was produced in a run so small that it could be more conceivable to own a prototype than a production figure. Either that, or they're all sitting in a Brazillian Big Lots awaiting some lucky treasure hunter.
8
I guess I'm still ticked off that the Cantina Han figure does not interact
with the Cantine Greedo figure (the only flaw in my otherwise now perfect
Cantina diorama...thanks, Wuher).
Reprogramming the chips has been a topic of some buzz since we first saw them online in '98, and sadly, it looks like the answer is a resounding no.
9
I know that some persons have very good contacts and I even asked the guy
but he just ignored my question pretending to be very busy. Of course I know
that he will not answer in any case, because that's a secret of his
"successful" business. But I got very close to get angry with him.
Well, scalpers are a resourceful bunch. (So are we.) It's not hard to get a small network of people to buy stuff up to resell online, at toy shows, or elsewhere... lord knows I've seen this happen more than I care to mention. Unless a store imposes a limit, it's quite easy to clean them out.
When it comes to items on the secondary market that are priced in a manner that you feel is taking advantage of the consumer, all you gotta do is pass on them, encourage your friends to pass on them, and stinkpalm the dealer.
10
The Sandtrooper shipped one per case with the Ree Yees wave, and showed up in huge numbers early on. The Weequay was always tough to get (especially here), I never saw one. Allegedly it shipped in a case that had only 1997 figures on the 1998 packaging.
These are very hard to find, and well since they are just packaging variations, I wouldn't sweat it too much. Hasbro's weird, you never know what'll show up on clearance.
FIN The next update will be Tuesday morning. See you then!
Adam I was wondering if you know what is going on with the R2/Leia action figure. I know Hasbro has said more are coming, but when? The Fan Club was to get some in, but then they said they were getting only a small shipment in and then only to fill back orders. The upcoming case assortments that I have seen do not have this figure among them. This summer the unified cardback assortment comes out and this figure is not even listed in those assortments. Do you think that eventually the Fan Club will get some of these figures in their original packaging and sell them like the DSTrooper/Ree-Yees?
I want to try and find this figure in its original packaging, so do I buy now? or wait and hope?
So far, it seems the official word from Hasbro's site would have me believe that they plan to release more in the future. When that is, I don't know.
I would expect to see it show up somewhere eventually because there's no way the figure can be quite as limited as the market would have us believe.
I'd wait, just because with next to no exceptions, every "rare" item has shown up en masse at a later date. I still think it's far from a "discontinued" freak-out situation, if for no reason other than there are 5 POTF2 CommTech figures that are still hard to find, and only 10 available CommTech POTF2s, one of which is an exclusive.
2 Why does Hasbro run exclusives on certain toys? It seems to me if KAY-BEE were in the market for say a 12" Biker Scout then they should sell the item to any store that wants it.. Does Target have to pay more money to get an exclusive taht will only come to their store? -Corey
While some exclusives are requested, the bulk of them are product that for some reason or another made it far along in production and couldn't be sold in big enough numbers to be a successful open-stock item.
Items rarely cost more, the Skiff actually cost less than all reports from 1999 would have you believe it would've cost if everybody carried it. I agree that if the market is there, it should be filled... but exclusives are worthless unless the word holds some degree of finality. I don't believe any store has to pay a premium to have an exclusive, but stuff like the recent Trophy Assortment leaves you wondering...
3 At my local Walden Books, I remeber seeing this book that I just loved! Inside it, There was a card board reprinted version of a "Revenge of the Jedi" Boba Fett Card. Also inside it, there were a couple of pages of some of the International Posters(Such as Japan and Spain.) I had a sort of flap cover of Darth Vader with vacro on it so it could seal the book. What was the title of this book?? What was the retail price?? -Sean
This is the ultra-cool Star Wars Scrapbook from Steve Sansweet.
It's about $27 and has a wealth of pictures and oddities that scream you purchase this book. If you can postpone a few toy purchases, you should-- the book is worth it.
4
Unknown. When an item near a slow period in a toy line's run is hard to find, it almost always means that somewhere in the world are more of 'em. So it's possible.
As far as problems finding new SW figures, man, anybody who isn't ordering these online or has a fantastic store nearby is having difficulty keeping up. I'm barely catching up lately... and I live in toy stores.
5 Is the Star Wars Galaxy Collector by Topps still produced? I haven't received one in a year, haven't seen one in stores, and can't find any info on-line. -Dave
I've seen a couple of issues since last May's #5 (Maul/Applause cover), but haven't picked one up for whatever reason. They still pop up at Borders and Barnes & Noble, but it seems the magazine's distribution has dropped off significantly in the past year.
6
The figures are molded in the ship, they ain't goin' nowhere... so it looks like Torso Boy can't be removed.
7
I have yet to see one. I don't know if this means it's late or what, but most people seem to have not seen them, although I do recall a few people picking them up. So right now, it looks like it's just hard to find, not "cancelled" or anything like that.
It sounds like another sales ploy, but stranger things have happened.
8
Shop-at-home is Lego's direct mail division. There are flyers for it in virtually every Lego product, and it does have a large catalog you can request just by... well, requesting it. There is no web site for it, although some S@H "exclusives" have shown up at eToys.
9
Well, Freeze Frame Weequay is hard to get because it was an item with a low production run, plus it's just another variation when you get right down to it.
As far as the 5-pack goes, I never saw anything that confirmed it, so until someone throws a pic up somewhere, I figure it as just another one of those rumors that seem to be popular because it sounds like a neat idea. A $100-$150 5-pack seems like something we'd never see.
10
Uhhh... "because"? They weren't as variation/correction-happy back then, so I guess they never saw a reason to change anything. I'm assuming it was just a decision to make Luke's weapon distinctive from Obi-Wan, but I really have no idea.
FIN TMBG Fans: a new EP is up for grabs at eMusic.com. They send ya a free copy of it on CD if you order it and live in the USA. The next update will be Wednesday. See you then!
With all the discount sales going on at KB and TRU I've been picking up a few of the 12" Action Collection figures. I've seen the Chewbacca in chains (Boushh's prisoner) and frankly I was less then impressed. Not only did the face look crappy, but I couldn't see a single joint on it. I didn't buy it, but I wondering if you could tell me if the figure has ANY articulation at all on that figure, or weather I should wait and look for the new 13" one? -Snoova28
Well, it's a bendy toy, really. Much like the Wampa, it has no need for articulation because it can bend in whatever pose you're gunning for. It looks less than great, sure, but it can be fixed up with a little work. But it ain't great.
2 What is the "correct" color of Luke's Bespin/Dagobah outfit? The vintage and POTF2 versions are tan. The Collector Series version is a military green. In the Dagobah scenes it looks more green. In Bespin scenes it appears more of a greenish gray. I repainted one to look like Luke in the Bespin scenes using a Testors kit for painting military airplane models -- a mixture of 2 parts camouflage green to 3 parts light ghost gray. I think it turned out pretty well. -Matt
Well, the way he looks on the original 1981 figure packaging (either version of the photo) is how I would think he should look. The Collectors Series takes quite a few liberties in its "authenticity" and I wouldn't use it for archival purposes. The brownish color is the one that I would assosciate with Bespin Luke.
3 Why don't Walmart, Toys R Us and Target sell their exclusives through their web sites like KB and FAO Schwarz? -Tom
They just don't. They might some day, but not now. One of the big pluses of an exclusive is that it brings in extra traffic to your store, and since you're there, you might buy something else... not so with e-commerce. So there are advantages to using a Skiff or what have you as a ploy to put feet in the aisles.
4
When it comes to awesome vintage stuff, Gus, Chris, Ron, and all the guys at Toysrgus have it covered. While there may be other sites out there that fit the bill, I have yet to find one.
5 I have a two part question. First: Is the Takeel figure from the Cantina Aliens Cinema Scene 3-Pack supposed to be the POTF2 version of Snaggletooth, as many people have stated? I ask because according to Stephen Sansweet's Star Wars Encyclopedia, it's Takeel's brother Zutton who was nicknamed Snaggletooth, Second, if Takeel IS Snaggletooth, then isn't he too tall? I mean wasn't the reason Kenner changed the original "Blue" Snaggletooth released with the Sears Cantina Playset, to the shorter carded "Red" one because Lucasfilm insisted the character was a dwarf? -Snoova28
Mistakes happen, get used to it.
The POTF2 Snag is in the 3-pack. Yes, there are a lot of times that mask was re-used (all 3 original films), and the blue Snag was the result of an ERROR due to B&W photography cropped off that prevented Kenner sculptors from seeing the full alien. The Blue Snag was never issued outside the Sears Cantina Adventure set (at least not that anybody has been able to prove). The blue version was not issued in any ESB packaging (unless it was some weird Canadian Sears thing I'm forgetting, in which case it'd
be a variation on the Cantina Adventure set.)
As far as height goes, well, the Rebel Fleet Trooper in POTF2 dwarfs most Vaders... the figures aren't the best place to look when looking for proper height (dwarf or not) in the SW universe.
6
It looks like nobody has reordered the Beast Assortment for quite some time, hence its inability to show up as of yet. It was most likely that all of the items surfacing were some sort of production pieces released early (I dislike the term "salesman samples" because I don't think I've ever heard of salesman using samples in the past few years on these lines).
Since finished product exists, odds are you'll be seeing them eventually. It might take a little while. (I'm looking forward to this one as well.)
7
Also known as Toothface, this Whipid is seen in Jabba's Palace and appears as a large furry critter.
Pics available in most SW character guides/encyclopedias at your local library, or on Decipher's site for the custom card game somewhere. (You'd be amazed how useful that can be as a reference tool for the more obscure aliens.)
8
It's almost definite that we're gonna see all the council before Episode II... I mean, it's like the Bounty Hunters. It's a given.
Cloth robes, knee joints, and thrones would be my first request had I been given the ability to direct figure development. After that, I'd want those slick sabers with the removable blades like the Sith Lord Darth Maul got. Now we know it can be done, and now, I want 'em.
9
The Twins have been on my most wanted Cantina character lists for some time, since, well, there aren't any female characters these days. Plus they're kinda distinctive, and let's face it, if one thing sells in the toy biz, it's chicks in green spandex with beehive hairdos. (I'd buy a set or two.) They aren't identical from most of what I've seen-- one's a little taller, and the outfits are slightly different... but they could probably get away with just doing Brea or Senni.
10
If it came at a time where it's been six months since an Artoo had been available and would be the final POTF2 R2-D2 for all time, I would love to see it made.
Of course, I'd want them to use a modified sculpt of the Holo R2-D2... have the head light up more like the Royal Starship droid, remove the restraining bolt, fix the head, and well, that'd be it. I don't mind resculpts if they're done right. Sure, the new Qui-Gon Jedi Master figure looks pretty nice and plays well (he can sit down easily, and I applaud that) but it hasn't been a year since the last similar version, and well, the first one ain't goin' nowhere. So if done right, I would run out and buy
this figure.
But I would rather see it packaged with an obscure alien as a $13 exclusive in a 2-pack or something. Maybe a better Salacious Crumb or a regular Klaatu or even the other Weequay.
FIN The next update will be Thursday. See you then!
I have three questions. 1. Where did the Shmi cancellation rumor start? 2. Has 12 inch Senator Palpatine been cancelled? 3. Do you know of any plans for a Marmit Vader? How awesome would that be?!! -Michael
The Shmi thing first appeared-- as far as I know-- at Yak's via a conversation of some rather important folk. In other words, there's a very good chance that this whole "yank" thing is for real... although I await confirmation through official channels before I freak out. (And rest assured, I *will* freak out of it's cancelled. I really liked how she was turning out.)
Palpy? Dunno. Delayed is more likely. Very few products get cancelled these days that we hear about, but there's always gotta be a few...
Marmit Vader was rumored in many, many sources. I'd buy one in a heartbeat because, well, geez, it's friggin' Vader. It's possible, but we've still got a few kits to go through first...
2 OK, stupid question... after reading another Star Warrior's question about how rare the Vlix droid is, I can only ask: What IS the Vlix droid and do you have a photo of it? Could you shed some light on its history? Was it released in the US? Was it POTF? Droids? -Joe
Vlix is a character from a story arc on the Droids' TV series that featured the Fromm gang, Jord Dusat, Thall Joben, and Kea Moll. It's not a droid, but rather, a large alien... a henchman, really. A big green guy.
He was one of over a dozen unreleased figures from the Ewoks & Droids figure lines that were just barely at production's door. They were pretty nice, and while they wouldn't have sold too well (I remember seeing $1 first-series guys at Kay-Bee for some time), well, it wasn't meant to be. A very, VERY limited number have surfaced from Brazil since he was released as part of Glassite's line in the late 1980s. He was the only exclusive figure in Brazil's line, and there is some speculation that every Bra
zillian version was a sample of some sort since there were so few. Honestly, I don't know what the deal is, as any figure that's THAT hard to get seems, well, impossible unless it was a proto or something.
Or 50 years old.
3 What's a week's worth of toy runs in the life of Adam? I usually hit Target and WalMart 3-5 times on my way to work during the week, TRU 2-4 times a week on my way home from work, and I try to hit all 3 at least once during the weekend. Should I seek counseling? -Jedieb
I hit at least 7 or so stores in a week, mainly because I go for food and I'll stop at any nearby toy joints. If I go somewhere with my friends, I'll almost always stop in a toy store. I've got it pretty bad.
I don't look for much when there's nothing I'm looking for, but since I'm missing quite a few items right now, well, that's not happening. If it's a daily thing where you intend to go out just for the sake of toy runs and nothing else, I'd get worried. But on the way home? There's no harm in that.
4
It's just part of the packaging... similar inserts were included in (I *think*) every carry case Kenner made back then. Since my Blaster Rifle and box cases were purchased opened, I can't say for sure.
5 Bespin Lukes have been shipping to my stores in droves( I scalped them to the scalpers and sell 'em to my friends for 1/2!) and I was wondering why we aren't seeing removable helmet Vader ? -OGWAMO2
Different assortments... Collection 3 Freeze Frames HAVE shown up in very small numbers, but nothing significant as of yet. Just keep watching, because who knows what these people have up their sleeves?
6
2, one in 1983 and another in 1997. I would argue that while not as accurate, the 1983 one is a bit better. I'd like to see a new one shortly after Episode II, personally...
7
Well, if classic SW stands don't fit, I don't know what to tell you. Poster putty?
8
A holster for a blaster that isn't actually usable. The new CommTech Stormtrooper has one as well.
9
The things sold as "samples" are almost always just early carded figures. Unless that figure never sees stores, it's worth the same as an ordinary carded figure... they're only special when nobody has it.
More often than not, ANY "advance" item is billed as a salesman's sample, and to be honest, I didn't think that Hasbro still has salesman showing off samples outside of Toy Fair these days. It's certainly not a prototype, as it's just a production piece. These pieces have an expiration on their "cool" period of about 3 months, as soon as the item hits stores.
10
Customizing is an art. Some folk can make
magnificince out of mediocrity, turning a so-so figure into a
spectacular piece. (Look at Gary Weaver's stuff.) I've seen some
customs so nice that you'd swear they were straight from the movie, or
at least, from Hasbro. There's nothing I admire more than a figure
that looks like it's been worked on (even if it's less than perfect),
because I like to think that genuine creativity is still worth
something. To you, the awesome customizers of the world, I tip my hat.
Others can make some genuine crap. I mean REAL junk. These are the people that paint an R2-D2 with Crayola markers and call it R5-D4, or put a Greedo head on a Ponda Baba Luke body and call it a new figure. And somehow, these guys seem to get ahold of hard-to-find figures... I think it's the same force of the Universe that compells cheerleaders to breed with football players.
I love seeing the creativity people can put into a good custom. At the same time, I laugh at second-rate work... I admit it isn't very nice, but man, you guys need to see some of the dregs out there. (What's funniest is when people bring their "improvements" to a collectible store for peddling, and you're left wondering what it was they were thinking.)
Anyone who says you're corrupting the toy line is either just yanking your chain or short on whatever it is that keeps their Turrets Syndrome from acting up. (No offense to anybody with the illness.) I still find it astounding what people are willing to pay for customs of soon-to-be-released figures, but hey, it is art. And if life has tought me one thing, it's that Art (and pizza toppings) cannot be agreed upon by two individuals.
So please, customize away. Refine your skills. But always remember when showing off your wares, that I've seen some people a little too proud of their work get seriously trashed by others. But for the most part, this shouldn't be a problem as most people won't show anything off unless they're genuinely proud of the quality of the final product. (Although I could give you a few URLs that would contradict this.)
FIN The next update will be Friday. See you then!
This is a Harrison Ford-related question. Last year i remember hearing about a Japanese-made Indiana Jones doll with a real leather jacket. I also heard, because it's an import, it costs $450. What are the chances this will be produced for the US at a cheaper price? Besides E-bay, Amazon and conventions, how can I get one? -Scott
I'm pretty sure it was a limited-run item (there are a few places in the world where words like "limited" and "special" have yet to be tarnished by things like variant covers), so if you want one, the secondary market is it. No plans of future releases similar to this one have surfaced.
2 Hi Adam, I was wondering why the Episode 1 R2D2 has the booster rockets? I watched the movie several times looking for this and never saw them. Could this be that Hasbro was given early artwork\schematics of the R2D2 unit that was to be used and then Lucas modified or left out the part of film that included R2D2 showing off his rockets? Does this happen frequently. What other figures are created from film footage that we will never see, or better yet how can we see this omitted footage? -Marco
I'm pretty sure that while excised from the final print, this footage was alluded to in one of the kiddie books. R2 is one of a few figures from the SW line that never appeared on screen, Floppy Hat Luke is the only other one that comes readily to mind. It was supposedly filmed, just not used for some reason. I'm gonna go with "brevity."
It's not uncommon to see a few figures, or an entire line (Star Trek: Generations, anyone?) miss the boat due to the toys being designed long before the film. It sucks, and happens more than it should. Although I think that while goofy, these toys are genuinley notable just because they would never have been made had a simple cut not been made, leaving them as sort of remnants from something we were never meant to see. Either way, cool stuff.
3 I've been looking for a place that keeps a Freeze Frame database (with pictures and variations). Do you know where I could find a place like this, either on the web or elsewhere? -Scott
While as of yet unadded to Rebelscum, one still exists at the now defunct ASWN Resource page.
It's pretty complete, but many of the other lists haven't been touched for some time. There are no pictures, and there is only one variation on the actual freeze frames... R2-D2.
4
I think it's kinda goofy that people buy stuff they don't want just so they can sit on it, but these people did buy a lot of May 3 E1 figures last year, so they can't be all bad.
5 With all of the holograph figures and R2 resculpt talk as of late, I'm surprised no one has requested Hasbro make a ROTJ Holographic Luke Jedi from the Jabba scene. After all, we've already got holo Leia, Anakin, Yoda, and Ben. If they did a resculpt they could even include a R2D2 (or some unmade Jabba creatures if Cinema Scenes ever resurface!) I think that's something that would be very unique to capture Hasbro's obvious Holographic-craze, and could tie in with the vintage series. What are your thoughts? -Bryan
I'd prefer a really nice regular Jedi Luke before a holo version.
6
If it was meant to be, I think it would've happened... too bad, really, I could use more droids.
7
It's possible that it was meant to be removable at one point, but changed during production. The Rebel Fleet Trooper originally had a removable hat, and I remember Hasbro being a little surprised that the final Death Star Trooper did have an unglued noggin cover.
8
Yes, but either the final piece would look awkward or the reboxed figure would look obviously messed with. Buy two.

The last American company I can remember putting out Indy stuff is Galoob a few years ago with their boxed MicroMachines set. So it would make sense if Hasbro wanted to do it, but even though they have been asked quite a bit over the years, it just ain't happening anytime soon.
And as above, no plans have surfaced regarding an alternate release of the Toys McCoy Indy.

Well, I like seeing resculpts of any army-friendly figure. I didn't get many Tuskens on the first go-round (maybe 4), so I'm looking forward to this one.
I really don't mind resculpts if they're good. (While I do dig the accessories with Naboo Pilot Anakin, well, it just didn't need to be done.) If Hasbro can crank out an obviously improved product, they've earned my money. For the most part, resculpts have shown improvement, if not tremendous improvement, at least they're showing a little more personality. (As much as we mock Jedi Knight Obi-Wan, he does seem to have a little more "oomph" than the Jedi Duel version.)
I've been having a discussion with someone recently via email, and I brought up the point that I would love to see every single costume in the Star Wars films made as a figure, some day. Tatooine Street Folk, Ewoks, Imperials, I DON'T CARE. The more obscure, the better. I doubt I'm alone, and I think Hasbro still realizes that there is quite a bit of demand (and vocal demand) for Amanaman, more Ewoks, repainted R2 units, and a plethora of other figures.
Sadly, the only way this could ever happen is if Hasbro were to turn the theoretical "Collection 3"-- that is, obscure characters or minor players-- into some sort of direct line. And I dunno about you, but if I could buy 2-3 of a figure, with maybe 20 figures a year, in some alternate channels so I could get obscure characters, I would do it. (And to be blunt, there's really no better way to market General Madine or the Imperial Dignitary.) I know I've said it before, but there's really no better way
to make fans happy than with a subscription service that caters to us loonies who actually want to see Camie, Fixer, and Biggs figures made some day. Even though I poke fun at BoShek, I wouldn't mind seeing one. (Eventually. After we get the Tonnika Twins or Amanaman or some otherwise bitchin' toy.)
As far as resculpts go, the best way to cast your vote against them is with your wallet. There's a reason we're not seeing resculpts of Malakili, or that the new Swamp Jar Jar is a paltry one per case. (Absurd, I tells ya.) All you have to do is to say "no", but that can get to be hard with some of these new guys...
