Does Lucasarts have any definite plans to release games for the Dreamcast? Or are they waiting for the new PlayStation or Nintendo machine? -Chris
No titles have been confirmed for the Dreamcast from LucasArts, and they were very ambiguous when I asked in the past, but I think it's a safe bet that with nearly 300,000 units supposedly presold that we will see the Star Wars logo on a Sega console in the USA someday soon.
I have heard rumors that Episode I - podracer was going to be released for Playstation in October. Have you heard anything? -Tammy The PSX development was cancelled over the summer... a GameBoy Color version is still on the horizon, though. I just got the N64 version ($19 new-- long story, the sale is over) and it's pretty great... not "buy a N64 for this" great, but you might want to think about it if you can get a cheap N64. The best price on the N64 cart I know of as of today is around $45 and shipping from Checkout.com.
why do most of the figs have guns and pistols and lasers etc. Even characters that never came near a shooting devise get in a blister card with some sort of gun. Why does Hasbro decide to make the figs so violent? How peculiar! I like the ones with the other accessories like Aunt Beru with milk-glass, C-3PO with net, Max Rebo gang with instruments. -Denis Kids like to fight. Guns for figures adds to the good versus evil play pattern of Star Wars, giving the kids a chance to... well, have wars with the stars. It's not violence as such... but when it comes to Star Wars, guns are an integral part of a lot of the characters. Han without his pistol and Chewie without his bowcaster is like... peanut butter without evil peanut butter. It's just not right.
The Shuttle is the biggest (or at least tallest) vehicle in Star Wars' vintage line. I have one, and it's not a whole lot of fun to play with. Wings go up, wings go down, landing gear goes up, landing gear goes down, etc... you get the idea. As far as ships, POTF2 has yet to see a Rebel Transport, TIE Interceptor, TIE Bomber, B-Wing Fighter, Blockade Runner, Star Destroyer (a figure compatible one, anyhoo), Sandcrawler... I could go on. POTF2 is a sign of the times, the shift from kids to collectors brought more figures and fewer ships, which makes sense from a sales point of view. Still, I wouldn't mind seeing some more really cool ships as long as it meant an end to the use of the old molds. :)
If I were to use the lightsabers from Darth Maul, Obi-Wan, and all the rest from the 3 inch figure line for Rockman figures from Japan, would that be considered wrong? -Xuff Heck no-- Rockman's awesome. I had my Final Jedi Duel Luke Skywalker battling one of my MS in Pocket figures with their own laser swords a few months back.
I think that we're probably going to see something similar on a larger (i.e., less crappy) scale in the future. The voice compression kills most of the ones that would have otherwise rocked. Since the one in the Mos Espa Encounter was numbered 115, well, there could be a whole lot of them. I would like to see a really nice backdrop for the figures instead, or maybe good ol' fashioned trading cards. I don't particularly care for most of the CommTech chips, but I must say I really do love the new Jawa one.
Paper. You can't make as many cool noises with plastic.
The Gonk Droid's sounds kinda were weak, but the Jawa was great, I thought. I blame the sounds on bad compression, bad source material, and in the case of some, a lack of source material. Some of these sound like badly compressed audio files (of which I have made many on my MacIIsi many a year ago), and a lot of them are most certainly not from the movie. I don't care what people say, that ain't Watto. It's a technology with immense potential, and with a little work, I bet the next incarnation will rock. Right now, though, it's mostly sub-par.
If they correct it, odds are most people will never notice.
Check the site for the latest updates, more figures are always coming in.
