Now with a nougat center!
1 Will there be any new Queen Amidalas' in the next year? I heard a rumor that there will be Sabe, the decoy of the queen in the Black feather outfit, later in the year. -Scott
I've heard the same rumor, and to be honest, I believe it. Actually, Sabé does appear on our Figure Previews area as being listed on next year's Hasbro list... while that doesn't always mean it's 100% gonna happen, I think it's a safe bet that Sabe is exactly what you heard.
But it might not be.
2 Has there ever been any official word about the various colors of a Lightsaber, being an indication of rank among the Jedi Knights? -HONESTJEDI
I was hoping there would be, but it's still pretty
up-in-the-air. Every explaination I've seen penned I've found holes
in. (Yes, I know a preposition is the wrong thing to end a sentence
with.) Originally, someone said "all red is evil." Well, Adi
Gallia's and Leia's (see Expanded Universe Leia and the Epic Collection
MicroMachines Leia) ended up as red... so that's out. Someone said
that green belongs to a Jedi Master. Unfortunately, Luke isn't a Jedi
Master as of Shadows of the Empire (or if you prefer, Return of the
Jedi), so that's out. Someone else said blue was the color of a
Padawan. Needless to say, Obi-Wan wasn't a Padawan in A New Hope.
And since only Ki-Adi has Purple... well, dunno where to go there.
So right now, it looks like the color is whatever floats a Jedi's boat.
Lucas might be preparing something having to do with a color equating to
Jedi Heroism, or maybe one's ability to tune in to the Force. Then
again, ol' George could be reading this and laughing his flannel off,
howling "that goober Adam is trying to read too much into the films
again!" Nah.
3 How rare is the Jawa foot peg-hole variation? Are figures with one hole rarer than figures with no holes? How much more common are the figures with two holes? Has the so called "Error" been fixed? Have you already answered this email in a past Q&A and I can't find it in the Past Questions Answered thing? -favorite_burrito
From what I've seen/bought, it looks like the figure sans holes is the first release, and the Holy Jawas are second release. I hear reports of more hole-less figures showing up, but I haven't seen a one since they first hit my area's Toys "R" Us.

Last Spring here in Tucson, I found a bevy of EU
at Target Stores, Kay-Bee, and a few other places. No Troopers,
though... which kinda sucked. I saw a few over the summer... old stock
tends to resurface in weird places.
You never know what might show up in some areas... so hey, keep them
peepers peeled because these things do show up from time to time. It's
rare, but these weird toy finds makes toy hunting fun.
5 I was wondering if the new lego star wars sets will include small blasters. They produced inscale guns for western sets and such so I thought it'd be cool. -Magwitch
From the pics I've seen, it doesn't look too good.
Maybe LEGO wants to phase 'em out, or maybe they just don't want to do
the tooling for a new weapon.
While it's not the best, it is possible to order (last I checked) a set
of Wild West Accessories from LEGO Shop-At-Home. It's item number
5317, includes 5 pistols, 3 rifles, 3 spears, and a bunch of other junk
that a customizer could probably use to make some cool Ewok-y or Skiff
Guard-y stuff. As for the cost, probably under $5 shipped... I'd
check, but as of the time I write this, S@H is closed and the catalog I
have isn't too complete. But hey, it's worth it to pick these up now
if the new sets don't have guns... and it certainly looks that it's
going to be that way from the pictures I've seen.
Oh, and the Western theme is being cleared out at many a toy store right
now, especially the Toys "R" Us stores I check regularly. So a couple
of bucks could score you some guns and extra bricks for whatever uses
you might have for 'em.

Aside from the typical answers of "Ebay" and "Fan
Club", Entertainment Earth gets the assortment with them (and the Blast
Shield Wave) in quite a bit. I also hear of sporadic shipments of
these showing up all over the world (most likely a result of "Hey Bob,
lookee what I found in the back!"), so there's a very slim chance of
these showing up in your area.
But yeah, Ebay and the Fan Club... kinda stinks, but to get them
individually, that's about all you can do outside of pure luck when
you're out jonesin' for toys.

No such date is known as far as I know... plus I
think I read somewhere there's plans of a reissue in theatres maybe. I
think it's pretty much in the discount cinemas now... so it's probably
going to go away for a little while in the not-too-distant future, at
least in most cities.
(I tried looking for showtimes on a movie site that advertised
showtimes, but man, that was worthless. 15 minutes and still couldn't
find 'em.)

Welcome to the toy collecting hobby-- it's US or
bust on just about anything except for certain foreign toys. I know
overseas (well, Japanese) packaged original TransFormers-- at least
older ones-- usually command a premium, but as for other stuff, well,
no. It doesn't make much sense, but some things are just... well, odd
in this hobby. Take Episode One's Yoda toy... the one with all the
hype about the missing text. Most people still don't realize (or don't
care) that the production on this "rare" toy is actually *higher* than
on figures like Nute Gunray and Rune Haako. Popularity is everything
in this hobby, and Canadian stuff just ain't all that popular right
now.
9
The revision number (which is actually called a Part Number internally at Hasbro) only has to do with packaging. Any and all changes to the toy are purely coincidental... the number is there so Hasbro knows, in a jiffy, what versions of the cards are out there.
10
If you look at the old Castle collection Ghosts, their "heads" were just a head piece done up in black plastic-- no paint. Odds are Fett will be the exact same way, just a removable helmet with a blank head underneath.

1
While I abhor scalping, and don't have this figure
myself, it'd be foolish not to take $700 for it. It'd also be really,
really stupid to pay much over retail for it, because it is shipping in
the new Vader wave, and probably will continue to ship as long as
(false) demand exists. If I had it, I'd have opened it upon arrival...
but that's me.
2 I recently found out that an orange card Obi Wan w/ short saber in long tray sold for over $1000 on ebay. What the h--l is wrong w/ people? Don't these people realize they're spending $1000 on a blister tray? That's right, a blister tray!!! Something that is normally discarded and ends up in a the city dump!!! One could purchase that same exact Obi Wan w/ a short saber on the freeze frame cards just months ago for about $3-$5. This was the same exact figure, same saber size, just different packaging. I own the Obi Wan w/ the long saber. To me that figure w/ the actual long saber is worth way more than a blister tray sized to fit that saber. -Jedi Jake
Why? Dunno. Short saber/long try Luke
(Tatooine) and Obi-Wan are legitimately rare variations. I also think
they're really, really boring from a "21-back ANH Boba Fett vs. SS/LT
Lightsaber Luke" standpoint. Since it's so easy to fake, I'm amazed
$1000+ could be sunk on it. Sure, it's probably rare enough to warrant
it, and rarity (legit or otherwise) makes up for a big part of the
hobby. It's weird... but hey, you don't have to buy one, and neither
do I. :)
3 Do you think the POTF2FF line has the potential to become as strong as the original POTF line from 1985?It seem to me that its going down the same road. -John Rivera
POTF2 FF is probably going to be widely collected
if Star Wars and Star Wars collecting continues being popular among the
new blood in the hobby. For many, it's just a fad, meaning there's
really no way to tell how this line will do down the road. (Hence why I
never answer "How much is my X worth?" questions here.)
It might. But I know that a POTF figure from 1985 on a perfect card
will, to me, always be more interesting than a POTF2 figure just because
the old ones looked so durned neat. And many are genuine hard finds
these days.
4
The last word I've heard on POTF2 cinemascenes from Hasbro was there were no new classic Cinemascenes on the drawing board. This may change, but it's a safe bet most if not all of the rumors for new ones out there are total fabrications.
5 When Kenner first started making action figures, characters like Han and Luke would have a new head every time they made a new one. With the new figures Hasbro has made I feel the new luke head is a major improvement and with so many version i am able to transfer heads to old one. But I personally think this new Han is not an improvement and he looks totally different from every other Han I have or made. What are your feelings about this new rescuplted Han Solo? -David
New Han rocks, probably in my top five favorites (with EU Luke, RH Vader, Mynock Chewie, and Max Rebo.) The new head looks fine to me, a definite improvement. The silhouette doesn't remind me of Elvis.
6
No, these were never made. (And for those with older ToyFares, Vlix from Droids was never, ever on the collectors market for less than $100 unless somebody had no clue what it was.)
7
Dunno. I think blue looks bad at toy stores, too mellow, it doesn't stand out as much as other toys... look at the Episode One Galoob packaging. The way it was done makes almost everything look alike, plus it just kinda blends together... the red isn't much better, but the blue really disappears into the background.
8
Well, I can give you a 10 on more Jar Jars and Anakins right now... until they stop selling, they're gonna make more. Aurra (if you check the Hasbro Q&A) is all but confirmed, and it's a pretty safe bet that a lot of what you ask for will happen over the next few years. There's a whole bunch of assortments to fill between now and May of 2002.
9
Because Hasbro digs the old tooling-- if all they had to do was change the head and the figure, it's a great new product because costs are kept down compared to doing an all-new mold.
10
If you think Hasbro likes core character rehashes and weird collector things that make people angry, Mattel is worse. Hot Wheels and Barbie immediately spring to mind, and there's the two-billion-and-one Buzz Lightyears since Mattel got the license from Thinkway... as much as everyone complains, we probably got the best of the major players to do Star Wars. (Even if they do a lot of oddball things.)
FIN I don't mean to make a scene But I lost my action figures and it makes me want to scream Greedo, Chewbacca, Luke, R2, Han, 3PO, Yoda, Boba Fett, Obi-Wan
