Strangely, the medals for the upcoming 2nd Annual
Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend were not revealed at the Wine & Dine Half Marathon that took place at Disney World this past weekend
as there were in 2014 during the Expo. Instead, runDisney opted to reveal them
via their Facebook page.
At first glance, you can tell that the Kids Races medal, the 5k medal and the 10k medal have all changed drastically from 2015, but the Half Marathon & Rebel Challenge medals are very similar in design to what we've already seen. The Kids Races changes from R2-D2 to Yoda, the 5k changes from C-3PO to Luke Skywalker & the 10k changes from a Stormtrooper to an X-Wing. That last one makes sense given
the announcement of an Inaugural Dark Side themed Half Marathon Weekend taking place at Disney World just three months later. The Half Marathon medal stays modeled after the Medal of Yavin and the Half Marathon spinner medal switches from a Yoda/Vader to the symbol of the Rebellion on one side and...we'll have to wait and see what's on the other side. All five lanyards have changed as well from 2015.
