Dark Horse Comics took over publishing
Star Wars comic books in 1991, with the release of
Star Wars: Dark Empire, the comic book limited series that started the the Dark Horse line of
Star Wars comics and re-energized the the entire franchise. Originally planned for Marvel's Epic imprint,
Dark Empire moved to Dark Horse, where a starving public eagerly awaited. The success of the series paved the way for two sequels,
Dark Empire II and
Empire's End, which have all been collected and remain strong sellers to this day. However, this comic book series was not enough to satisfy fan's hunger for new stories, as we'll see in the coming weeks in our new Dark Horse Cover Gallery.
