Rebelscum fans! This week on the site we’ve been reflecting on the gripping four-part conclusion to
Star Wars: The Clone Wars that had us all wiping away the tears. Make sure to read our “

It was a shock when
The Clone Wars was cancelled in 2013, as there was a lot of potential for the rest of the series to explore. While the final two seasons and subsequent books and comics helped complete some of the planned storylines, Dave Filoni and his creative team had many more planned that could’ve gone down as classics. We looked at some of the arcs he’s discussed and what they could have been.
- The Bounty Hunter Alliance: Boba Fett is appearing in more media than ever and Cad Bane recently returned for The Bad Batch, but a planned arc would have seen the two teaming up. Reportedly inspired by The Searchers, the storyline would have included other bounty hunters like Aurra Sing, Seripas, C-21 Highsinger, Embo, Latts Razzi, and Bossk.
- Yoda and the Bad Batch visit Kashyyyk: Before The Bad Batch, a planned story arc would have united the clone squad with Yoda in a mission Kashyyyk, establishing Yoda’s connection to the Wookiees in Revenge of the Sith. Chewbacca and Tarful would have shown up in the adventure.
- The Rise of the Yuuzhan Vong: The villainous alien invaders that threatened the heroes in The New Jedi Order book series nearly popped up in The Clone Wars. The horror-themed episode was described in lieu of The X-Files.
- Exploring The Jedi Temple: Ahead of her big moments in “The Siege of Mandalore,” Ahsoka almost returned to the Jedi Temple to explore its history alongside Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Yoda. In an Indiana Jones inspired adventure, the team of Jedi would have traveled deep within a series of underground catacombs.
- Return to Mon Cala: Season Four debuted with the epic “Battle of Mon Cala” storyline, but it wasn’t intended to be the last appearance by the new King Lee-Char. In a planned story, Anakin and Padme return for another crisis to the Mon Calamari/Quarren conflict. Central to the story would have been the Seperatist Quarren leader Tikkes, whose loyal fanbase had hounded Dave Fioni for years to include the character.
- R2 and Rex Solo Mission: How does Top Gun with R2-D2 and Rex sound? This action-centric arc on Ryloth would have explored aerial and ground combat with clones and astromech droids bonding on an adventure.
- Return of The Zillo Beast: We had “The Zillo Beast” and “The Zillo Beast Strikes Back,” so naturally “Return of The Zillo Beast” was in the works. Unfortunately, the reemergence of Star Wars’s very own kaiju never saw the light of day.
- Return of Barriss Offee: Barriss’s dark turn shocked fans in the fifth season, and we’ve yet to get a proper conclusion to her story arc. However, Filoni stated Barriss’s return was in the works; he changed the ending to season five in order to keep Barriss alive.
- Aurra Sing’s Last Stand: Aurra Sing has a lengthy backstory in Star Wars comics, and The Clone Wars certainly showed her as a fearsome antagonist. Aurra’s villainy nearly came to an end in a storyline that was intended to kill her off.
