Regal Robot’s incredible Archive Collection of replicas scanned from the original props at Skywalker Ranch is growing once again! The company went big with recent releases like the Gamorrean Axe Prop and their giant Wampa Wall Bust. Tuesday, they release the next in their long line of concept maquette replicas based on classic Return of the Jedi aliens!
Working with Academy Award winning FX artist Chris Walas (Gremlins, The Fly, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Return of the Jedi and more!), the company is releasing two editions of their Ishi Tib™ Concept Maquette Replica.
Walas was the original sculptor of the “Starfish” concept maquette which was chosen to become the Ishi Tib character mask for the film and has called the design his favorite of the concepts he sculpted for ROTJ at ILM.
For these special editions, the Walas not only signed metal plaques but also crafted 83 hand-drawn full-color illustrations to be included in the ultra-limited Legacy Edition!
With hands-on access to the original film artifact and high resolution 3D scanning, Regal’s team crafted a faithful recreation of the concept maquette for this classic alien seen both in Jabba’s palace and in the Rebel briefing scene of the film. Every replica in these editions is meticulously hand painted by the artists in the company’s New York studio.
