Shane Turgeon:
Before I get into my thoughts on ROTS, I feel that I have to
preface them with my thoughts on the previous two prequels. To be blunt, I
really can't stand either and can barely bring myself to watch them. The
previous two prequels have left me feeling let down to say the least. So, that
being said I was expecting very little from ROTS and I went to see it with
trepidation, thinking full well I'd come away from it with the same feeling of
resentment.
Imagine my surprise when I left the theatre this afternoon actually saying that i really enjoyed this movie - a lot. Yes, it was a new Star Wars film and it still had that feel to it but at the same time, it felt very much like the old movies did and how Star Wars *should* feel. It's hard to adequately describe this film while still being sensitive to those out there wishing to remain spoiler free so I'll simply say this - Revenge of the Sith is in my eyes, the redemption of the Saga. It made me a fan again, kept me enthralled for 2 hours and made me excited to see it again on the 19th. Of course, I have some gripes - namely the pacing towards the end and the fact that there is still far too much reliance on bad CG effects, and I do think the film is far from perfect but it's easily the best of the three and I think many fans may come away from this movie with a feeling of satisfaction. It's just a shame that it's taken us 22 years to get here again.
