So are we in an R2-Q5 resurgence period? For the minority of you who do not know, before BB-9e, the OG bad droid was R2-Q5 who had a roll on appearance aboard the second Death Star. He was the "evil" version of R2-D2 as BB-9e is the "evil" version of BB-8. He has spawned a few figures including as part of an exclusive The Black Series set. He has also been in models, salt and pepper shaker sets, and various other merchandise.

This year, however, he has been part of three limited releases. At SDCC he was one of Hallmark's exclusives in the form of a block calendar. At NYCC, and subsequently later at Best Buy, he was an exclusive and limited Sphero edition (a repaint of R2-D2). Now we see that he is a 2017 holiday gift for Beast Kingdom retailers.

Not sure why he commands so much fan love for so little screen time but there must be some kind of inverse equation for Star Wars characters because there are cult following for several characters with a second or less of screen time. Will BB-9e get the same love? Will he have a role or just roll? We shall see scummers.....we shall see.
