The
Star Wars Collecting Award Presentations was the very last panel of the
Star Wars Celebration Anaheim's collecting track, and was presented by Duncan Jenkins, who began proceedings by thanking all of the sponsors for donating prizes, with the full list comprising Rancho Obi-Wan, Uncle Milton, Topps, Del Rey / Penguin, Random House, Kotobukiya, Think Geek, Completist Publications and Hallmark.
The first award was for the most popular design from the Vader Case Project, which incidentally raised a staggering $25K for the
Make-a-Wish Foundation, with Bruce White winning for his Hildebrandt design, with the prize being a tour for two of
Rancho Obi-Wan. Next up was for the best fan swag, and this was won by Bill McBride for his Darth Vader challenge coin, which Bill had given out on day three during the
Elite Character Focus Collecting panel the previous day. The following category was for the best collecting-related costume, which went to classic Kenner Hammerhead, though unfortunately, the cosplayer concerned was never determined. In the children's category, a young lady wearing an amazing Princess Leia Organa (Bespin Gown) costume won first prize, and she informed Duncan that the designs on the gown took six hours for her mum to create as a vector graphic on her computer! Other prizes were awarded for a Collector Triva challenge, won by Grant Krindle from the UK, and for a Scavenger Hunt, though none of these winners were present at the awards themselves.
As the sponsor of the collecting track, Rebelscum.com want to thank everyone involved for their efforts, including all of the organizers, volunteers and sponsors of the Star Tots, and most notably Gus Lopez, who has led the team right from the beginning, at Celebration I in Denver, Colorado, back in 1999.
