While there may have been a delay in getting the first wave of the The 30th Anniversary Collection out in the US, other countries can count themselves lucky because wave 1 has arrived!

Rebelscum forum member Barry has scored the first wave and kindly shared pictures with everyone.

Card Design
Finally, the tape is gone! The blisters are once again heat-sealed to the cardbacks, and they are large enough to hold the figure, all accessories, and the new coins. Now, since Barry lives in Canada, there are some differences to the cardbacks. Like with most figure lines in the past, these are generic designs using the official Darth Vader portrait, and of course they use tri-logo packaging. The names and numbers of each figure are on the sides of the blisters, which should make searching for specific figures hanging on the pegs that much easier.

Note that the Canadian packaging also includes a foldout insert that contains all of the text for the specific character. On the US cards, this information will be printed on the back of the card

Coins
The coins include a sculpt of the featured character on one sides, and the symbol the character is from on the other. In wave 1, the characters are all from Revenge of the Sith, so the symbols are the Jedi Order, Separatists, Empire and Rebellion.

The Figures
Okay, enough about the packaging...what about the figures? Hasbro really pulled out all the stops for The 30th Anniversary Collection, with extra articulation and paint deco for each character that really makes each one stand out. See for yourself...

30-02: Galactic Marine
Clad in armor and uniforms designed to maximize combat efficiency in hostile environments, the Galactic Marines are the Republic's front line forces and often take on the most formidable opponents.

30-03: Mustafar Lava Miner
The volcanic planet of Mustafar has spawned a number of native life-forms, including the sentient Mustafarians. These insectoid bipeds wear armor that is fashioned from the castoff shells of their lava flea mounts and can withstand the extreme heat and splashes involved in mining hot lava.

30-04: R2-D2
Given to improvisation, which is itself a unique trait for a droid, R2-D2 has fought his way out of more sticky situations than most. From unorthodox uses for his arc welder to jets of highly flammable lubricants, this little droid always has a trick or two just beneath his chassis.

30-05: Obi-Wan Kenobi
Obi-Wan travels to Utapau to confront General Grievous. The general is a master with the lightsaber, as is Obi-Wan, so the duel between the tenacious Jedi and the ruthless cyborg is grueling. But in the end, a well-aimed blaster shot by Obi-Wan destroys Grievous’ organ jar, putting an end to the general’s mission of destruction.

30-06: Mace Windu
A powerful Jedi warrior, Mace Windu has mastered skills that only the most trained minds could hope to attempt. He is slain in a desperate act of betrayal by Anakin Skywalker after fighting Chancellor Palpatine to a standstill in a battle that costs the lives of three Jedi.

30-07: Airborne Trooper
Obi-Wan Kenobi attacks General Grievous and his droid army on Utapau with the assistance of the Parjai Squad, 2nd Airborne Company, part of Commander Cody’s 212th Attack Battalion. The clone troopers descend upon the droid armies and decimate them while Obi-Wan dispatches Grievous, ending the Clone Wars.

30-08: Super Battle Droid
After the introduction of the massive clone army, the Trade Federation revisits the design of its battle droids and decides that a slightly smarter, more independent and more heavily armed droid is needed. The result is the much more powerful and deadly super battle droid.

30-09: McQuarrie Stormtrooper
This stormtrooper is based on conceptual art from A New Hope, depicting the Empire’s shock troopers in a corridor of the Death Star as they hunt down the escaping Luke, Han, Chewbacca, and Princess Leia. While stormtroopers were armed with blaster pistols or blaster rifles in the movie, this Imperial soldier is unusual because he holds a lightsaber, the weapon of the Jedi.

Looks like 2007 is going to be a great year for action figures!
