On Thursday, July 9, Disney Interactive hosted a special invite-only event previewing the upcoming Disney Infinity 3.0 games and figures. Members of the press were offered a chance to check out Twilight of the Republic, Rise Against the Empire and Inside Out play sets along with new playable characters.
There were multiple consoles setup allowing guests to demo the games and switch between a vast range of characters both Star Wars and non-Star Wars. While the original release date was slated for December 31 of this year, fans can now look for these to hit on August 30, four months early.
In speaking with Disney Interactive's David Mayernik, we learned a few interesting bits of info.
Sabine Wren is the most detailed figure in the line to date based on both paint and sculpt.
There is The Force Awakens game content and characters coming to be released in conjunction with the film release.
Players can create their own maps, upload them for approval and see them available to others for download.
You cannot use non-Star Wars characters in the Star Wars games, but can mix and match all of them during free-play mode in the Toy Box.
Players can expect an average of 6-8 hours of gameplay from start to finish for each game and between different characters and boards, can expect an infinite amount of play.
The gameplay is quite fun and will cater to both casual gamers (button mashers) and more serious gamers with character upgrades and special combo moves. During the preview, we chose to play the Geonosis board as Darth Vader, and Ahsoka Tano, the Hoth board as Luke Skywalker, Yoda and Chewbacca and the Endor board as Han Solo. With the ability to jump in and out of a Snowspeeder, climb onto an AT-AT Walker, ride a Speederbike, pilot an X-wing and more, these games are sure to provide countless hours of fun.
We would like to extend a special thanks to Disney Interactive for inviting Rebelscum.com to participate in this event.
