Costuming and
Star Wars go together like a potter to clay. Children and adults alike dress up at conventions, for Halloween, for charity events, parades, birthday parties and probably a dozen other occasions. This seems to grow in popularity every year, so it's no wonder that Disney's softlines department developed some new children's costumes to be sold through the Disney Store. They retail for $59.95 and are available in kids size small, medium, large and x-large.
To start the line off, we have Darth Vader. The details are pretty obvious at a quick glance and it's easy to tell that the designers were paying close attention to the actual Darth Vader suit when creating this piece. It's for a child, so it won't pass for movie accurate by any means, but it's a fun way for a child to dress up like their favorite character. The only thing it doesn't include is shoes. Everything else is covered from the helmet and gauntlets to the chest box and shin guards. They even went as far as including a mock inner robe for more definition. This is currently available in most Disney Stores and DisneyStore.com.
The other current option is a Stormtrooper costume which looks like it would be much more comfortable to wear than an actual set of TK armor! Just like the Darth Vader costume, this is currently available in Disney Stores and at DisneyStore.com.
This is only the beginning of the new
Star Wars costume line. While on our tour of the Disney Store Worldwide Headquarters, we actually got to see the very first concept of a
Star Wars: Rebels costume!
Next up is a new line of
Star Wars Mugs. These things are beautiful! The price sticker on the bottom said $12.95, but we were told they will retail for $14.95 each. The ceramic has a high gloss finish and raised features making each mug more dimensional and lifelike. Characters for the first wave include Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, C-3PO, R2-D2, Chewbacca and a Stormtrooper.
