Hasbro is reporting that their fourth-quarter profits rose 15 percent compared to last year. This is great news considering it was a non movie year for the franchise. Here's a brief snippet from Yahoo Finace.
"Star Wars sales climbed 4.1 percent in the quarter. Although 2006 Star Wars sales fell to $284.9 million, a drop from $494.1 million the previous year when Star Wars: Episode III -- Revenge of the Sith was released, it was still the top boys' property in the industry for the second year in a row, Chief Executive Al Verrecchia said."
Verrecchia also let slip that we're probably going to be seeing ANOTHER video ( DVD ) release this year to help celebrate the 30th anniversary. We've suspected this to be true since the original- original trilogy release last year that had fans up in arms over various format issues.
"Looking ahead, Verrecchia said he expected Star Wars to continue to be a strong performer with Lucas planning a video release for this year's 30th anniversary, a Star Wars animated TV show next year and a live-action Star Wars TV show in 2009."
So it looks like Star Wars truly is Forever!
