Hasbro has revealed a whole new way to collect The Black Series with the Holocomm Collection. These new figures allow collectors to receive transmissions from across the galaxy with fan-favorite characters featured in hologram-style deco. Each figure includes a holopuck which illuminates the figure from below (and those who hold the button on the puck will activate a 30-minute light display!) as well as a bounty chip with an Aurebesh inscription.
The characters included in this initial wave are: The Mandalorian, Han Solo, Axe Woves, Bo-Katan Kryze and Ahsoka Tano. Most of these figures are available for pre-order 10/5 and will arrive either this Fall or next Spring depending on the figure.
Initially, I was skeptical on the character choices for this first wave. I thought that Hasbro might want to start with characters that actually appeared in hologram form (Darth Vader, Emperor Palpatine, Darth Maul, Luke, etc), with Mando being the exception in this bunch to have a memorable hologram appearance. However, the bounty angle is an interesting direction to take, and this first wave of figures reflect characters that would be wanted by the Empire. The inclusion of an illuminating bounty puck, the bounty chip, and the wanted poster-style side art on the package make for a fun spin on some familiar figure molds.
