From Philip Wise reporting fromPre-Toy Fair New York City:
I visited the Master Replicas Pre-Toy Fair showroom in New York this afternoon and was able to get photos of a few new pieces we've been hearing about.
-New items shown were the Obi-Wan and Darth Maul FX sabers. The Darth Maul photographed is two half Mauls that have their end pieces unscrewed and a special connector that attaches them together. Very cool to see it together. The sabers continue to get more durable and I noticed the Obi-Wan was quite a bit louder than sabers have been before. I saw Michael Cookson demonstrating the Obi-Wan to a large group of Japanese buyers who were quite impressed by just how hard he was banging the blade on the floor.
-The Vader helmet in the photos is the first one we've seen that is actually from the plant in China.
-You can see the mini-blasters, Han and a Stormtrooper. They aren't .45 scale replicas, but the Han is in scale to the Stormtrooper blaster.
-The mini-saber is in the photo for scale.
-The studio scale Y-Wing is a freshly hand painted prototype. I love the base it's on.
-The Obi-Wan and Anakin costumes looked great, especially the boots, but as of yet, they are still figuring out how all this costume stuff is going to be sold.
-I threw in a couple of the Master Replicas Marvel items they have just started to show as well.
