Gentle Giant Ltd - July 17 - Preview NightCLICK HERE FOR THE FULL GALLERYWAMPA! WAMPA! WAMPA! For younger
Star Wars collectors, the phrase doesn't sound like much more than a word repeated three times, but for the original
Star Wars Generation it was a war cry! Originally teased by Gentle Giant's Dev Gilmore via his Facebook page, today marked the first official reveal of the stellar Jumbo Kenner Wampa. This figure features the elastic swinging arm action feature that made the classic Kenner figure an absolute must-have for the kids of the 80's, and we feel the same will be said again with this monstrous accomplishment!
Besides the Wampa, Gentle Giant also displayed Dengar, 4-LOM (Zuckuss for you newer collectors), Zuckuss (4-LOM to you newer collectors), Bossk, IG-88, Imperial Stormtrooper (Hoth Battle Gear), Luke Skywalker (Hoth Outfit), Han Solo (Hoth Outfit), Rebel Soldier and the not-so-Kenner Holiday yoda.
For their Mini Bust and Statue pieces, Gentle Giant had their upcoming Snowbunny Padm Amidala and
Clone Wars Yoda statues and the Mace Windu, Holographic Darth Vader, Grand Admiral Thrawn, Darth Malgus and Luke Skywalker (Snowspeeder Pilot) on display along with their SDCC exclusives and the Imperial Cog bookends.
The biggest surprise however was the life-sized classic Kenner Stormtrooper statue. This fibreglass figure features the same points of articulation as the 3 3/4-inch figure produced from 1978-1985 and features everything from its original COO stamp and removable blaster! The shoulder and leg articulation works as you'd expect, and the figure stands securely on its base by two embedded bolts. The stand for this is not finalized and may have a Kenner logo on it. Gentle Giant hopes to continue this line and have plans for at least five more figures including a Darth Vader with a vinyl cape and telescoping Lightsaber!
