In case you missed it (...and if you did, where have you been?)
Because of the continued demand for the basic figures from both consumers and retailers, Hasbro is going to release a line of "Greatest Hits" figures in spring 2007 to run alongside
The 30th Anniversary Collection. This line will be called
Saga Legends and will consist of
28 figures from across the entire modern
Star Wars collection. The cards will be similar in look to the TAC line, with character images representing the figure and will include generic collector coins with the 6 different movie logos on them, depending on the character. Unlike past assortments, the figures won't be numbered in this line.
Saga Legends Fan's ChoiceWith over 1000 action figures to choose from, Hasbro and Rebelscum have joined forces to find out which figures collectors want brought back to make up this line. For the past seven weeks, fans have placed their votes for their favorite figures you want to see brought back. Originally announced as 8 figures, the support from the fans has been so great that there will now be
10 figures bearing the "Saga Legends Fan's Choice" logo. Your voices HAVE been heard!
Saga Legends ListHasbro is currently checking to make sure the tooling for all figures is available and ready to go (some molds have not been needed for several years). So, barring any unforseen incidents, here are the figures that will make up the line. Expected shelf dates will vary depending on where you live, and will continue throughout 2007. It should be noted that the first 19 figures shown below were selected prior to voting even began, although some changes have been made along the way. You might see that some of the figures Hasbro chose overlap with some from the tournament...which means we're all of like minds after all.
WAVE 1: Expected on shelf in early AprilDarth Vader (originally TSC
Darth Vader SAGA-013)
Let's face it, you can't have a
Star Wars toy line without Vader. So why not bring back one of the better versions of the Sith Lord? This will be the Hoth version from
The Empire Strikes Back.
Packed with
Episode V coin.
Darth Maul (originally pack-in with EPISODE I
Sith Speeder and Darth Maul)
The main villain from
The Phantom Menace, this figure was previously only available as a pack-in with his Sith Speeder and never carded by himself. This version also makes for a great pilot figure for his upcoming Sith Infiltrator vehicle, since he can sit down.
Packed with
Episode I coin.
Yoda (originally ROTS
Yoda III-03)
Another favorite among kids, this Yoda will be an ultimate version merging his appearances from both
Attack of the Clones and
Revenge of the Sith.
Packed with
Episode II coin.
R2-D2 (originally ROTS
R2-D2 III-48)
The electronic R2-D2 is back. This will be a "Cloud City" version, although the figure is actually from the
Revenge of the Sith line.
Packed with
Episode V coin.
General Grievous (originally ROTS
General Grievous III-09)
The new villain from
Revenge of the Sith will be back with his 4 lightsaber attack.
Packed with
Episode III coin.
C-3PO (originally TSC

For the troop builder collector, the white clone from
Revenge of the Sith will be back, so you can build your armies of action figures.
Packed with
Episode III coin.
Shock Trooper (originally pack-in with TSC
Skirmish in the Senate battlepack)
Also from
Revenge of the Sith, this clone will now sports the superior body sculpt and will be easier for army builders to acquire.
Packed with
Episode III coin.
Battle Droids (2-pack) (originally pack-in with SAGA
Deluxe C-3PO (with Droid Factory Assembly Line) set)
Because clones need to fight
someone, these Battle Droids will come as a 2-pack and sport multiple color schemes as running changes throughout the year from BOTH
The Phantom Menace AND
Attack of the Clones. Look for tan, maroon, blaster damaged, and lightsaber damaged versions.
Packed with
Episode I coin.
Clone Trooper (originally CLONE WARS
Clone Trooper 03-50)
Hear that sound? That's army builders everywhere rejoicing! When it comes to the "greatest" figures in the line, this one sets the bar pretty high. The definitive clone from
Attack of the Clones and the
Clone Wars will be back.
Packed with
Episode II coin.
WAVE 2: Expected on shelf in mid-MayBoba Fett (originally VOTC
Boba Fett)
Another definitive figure, the VOTC version of the most notorious bounty hunter in the galaxy will be back, complete with his
Return of the Jedi armor. This figure was the top choice in the OTC section from Phase 1 voting.
Packed with
Episode VI coin.
Obi-Wan Kenobi (originally ROTS

This
Revenge of the Sith pilot figure is back, ready to fly his starfighter into battle.

Chewbacca (Cloud City Capture) 02-38)
Another popular character with fans old and young, the wookiee will come with the protocol droid strapped to his back, as seen in
The Empire Strikes Back.

Episode V coin.
Anakin Skywalker (originally ROTS
Anakin Skywalker III-02)
Another popular figure from
Revenge of the Sith, this figure also works well as a pilot.
Packed with
Episode III coin.
Saesee Tinn (originally ROTS
Saesee Tiin III-30)
Speaking of pilots (anyone notice the trend?), this
Revenge of the Sith figure will be a must-have when his ship is released.
Packed with
Episode III coin.
Destroyer Droid (originally SAGA
Destroyer Droid III-44)
Another droid from
The Phantom Menace, this figure will give the clones something to fight.
Packed with
Episode I coin.
501st Clone Trooper (originally MIA)
Speaking of clones from
Revenge of the Sith...remember when the
Tactical Ops Trooper was
shown at Comic-Con 2005, and it sported the Super-Articulated body, but the actual figure ended up being a repainted
AT-TE Tank Gunner? This happened because of the tooling available at the time, but isn't it time we saw this SA figure?
Well guess what? We're going to. Look for the SA body repainted in 501st colors at long last! So while technically this is a new figure, somehow I don't think anyone will mind. (and if you do, then you can blame me, because I asked for this one.)
Packed with
Episode III coin.
Princess Leia - Boushh Disguise (originally TSC
Princess Leia SAGA-001)
As seen in
Return of the Jedi, one of the best figures from 2006 will be back.
Packed with
Episode VI coin.
Sandtrooper (originally part of the
Evolutions set)
One of the Final 4 from the tournament, this soldier of the Empire from
A New Hope will be back for fans to build up their armies. This figure will be marked as "Saga Legends Fan's Choice" (see below).
Packed with
Episode IV coin.
WAVE 3 - Saga Legends Fan's Choice: Expected on shelf in early JulyPit Droids (2-pack) (originally EPISODE I
Bonus Pack-in)
Another Final 4 figure(s), these little droids from
The Phantom Menace were originally only available overseas as a bonus pack-in replacement for the Commtech Chips. These will be released with running changes to include all 3 color schemes and 1 of the accessories that will change halfway through production. Which means you can expect the following variants: white with accessory 1, brown with accessory 1, brown with accessory 2, and orange with accessory 2. At the end of the day, all 4 versions should be in equal numbers.
Packed with
Episode I coin.
Imperial Officer (originally POTJ
Imperial Officer)
These guys from
The Empire Strikes Back made it into the championship, and we'll see a running change made during production so that all 3 head sculpts will be back, in equal numbers.
Packed with
Episode V coin.
Dark Trooper (originally EU
Dark Trooper)
The #1 figure! The
Dark Forces veteran was
chosen by fans as
Fan's Choice #1, and the packaging will show that. Considering how hard-to-find this guy was back in 1998, it's nice to see collectors getting another shot at him. This figure was also the top choice in the EU section from Phase 1 voting.
Packed with
Expanded Universe coin.
Clone Commander (originally part of the
Evolutions set)
While called "Coruscant Clone Commander" during the tournament, Lucasfilm has dubbed him "Coruscant Loading Platform Commander." To simply things, he'll just be called "Clone Commander" on the card. This figure was the top choice in the
Revenge of the Sith section from Phase 1 voting.
Packed with
Episode III coin.
Clone Trooper Officer (originally part of the
Clone Trooper Troop Builder set)
More clones from
Attack of the Clones are coming back. Since the OTC section from Phase 1 voting was dominated by clones, it's pretty obvious that fans want more of them. Hasbro has heard you loud and clear, so look for all 4 colors/ranks (yellow/commander, red/captain, blue/lieutenant, green/sergeant) to be released under the "officer" name as running changes in equal numbers.
Packed with
Episode II coin.
WAVE 4 - Saga Legends Fan's Choice: Expected on shelf in mid-AugustBiker Scout (originally TSC Vintage
VTSC Biker Scout)
Another from from
Return of the Jedi that was one of the best figures in 2006, this figure will be back for more next year. This figure was the top choice in the TSC section from Phase 1 voting.
Packed with
Episode VI coin.
TC-14 (originally EPISODE I
TC-14)
Everyone's second-favorite protocol droid from
The Phantom Menace, this figure was very hard-to-find , which should make collectors happy to have him back again. This figure was the top choice in the EPISODE I section from Phase 1 voting (before the variant figure votes were combined.)
Packed with
Episode I coin.
RA-7 (originally pack-in with the OTC
Sandcrawler)
Originally available only with the exclusive vehicle, this Sandcrawler Droid from
A New Hope will finally be available on his own card (Jawas not included).
Packed with
Episode IV coin.
R4-I9 (originally pack-in with the SAGA
Imperial Forces set)
Another rare droid from
A New Hope, this figure was only available in the exclusive multipack, but now fans can find him carded all on his own.

Episode IV coin.
Special thanks to Fans and Collectors (if you are reading this, that's you.)
Finally, here's a personal note from Hasbro that I've been asked to share with everyone:
"Dan, thank fans for us, please! They did a fantastic job of identifying the figures that they wanted to see back, and what was impressive is that there was a range of figures from all over the Saga and from so many types - characters, troops, droids. Also, we never saw the winner coming, but it was a great choice, so great job to the fans for selecting Dark Trooper as their #1 figure. We think he's a great compliment to the EU figures coming next year."So there you have it....the
Saga Legends line up! A nice mix of figures for kids and collectors, with main & background characters, heroes & villains, troops & droids, and the top figures YOU voted for! What do you think?
Head on into our forums and share your thoughts with your fellow fans.
