The Vintage Collection gears up for a major movie release in 2012 with the long-LONG-delayed wave of action figures based on characters from Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace. There are 12 figures in this wave, many of which are all-new or "character debuts" and all tie in nicely to 2012's big-screen 3-D release.

The 12 figures in this wave include:

__ VC75: Qui-Gon Jinn
__ VC76: Obi-Wan Kenobi
__ VC77: Ratts Tyerell & Pit Droid ("character debut")
__ VC78: Battle Droid
__ VC79: Darth Sidious
__ VC80: Anakin Skywalker (Jedi Padawan)
__ VC81: Ben Quadrinaros & Otoga-222 ("character debut")
__ VC82: Daultay Dofine ("character debut")
__ VC83: Naboo Royal Guard (incorrectly identified as "character debut")
__ VC84: Queen Amidala (Post-Senate)
__ VC85: Quinlan Vos (Mos Espa)
__ VC86: Darth Maul

This wave also debuts the new back-of-the-card design which is an appropriate homage to the Kenner 20-back design, but of course with a modern-day twist.

What's also interesting is the sticker on the front of the cards, which reveals the new promotion for 2012. Apparently, fans can enter for a chance to win a life-sized Darth Maul statue signed by none other than George Lucas himself...and more!

Sounds exciting...there is sure to be more on this announced during Toy Fair in February. But for now, enjoy the photos, courtesy of Rebelscum forum member "Slave_1" from Arizona, who scored this wave at a Target in Arizona.
