This troop transporting vessel - also known as a Sentinel-class landing craft - is the ferry boat of the Imperial fleet and had its initial appearance in the canon universe via the Shadows of the Empire video game. Its big screen debut in the special edition of A New Hope (1997) landed it firmly on the Star Wars landscape. Since then it has showed up in Galactic Battlegrounds, Force Commander, Battle Front (I & II), Rebels and was immortalised in ABS when LEGO released 7659 Imperial Landing Craft in 2007.
And now, 11 years later we have a revamped version that is described, via the Google translation tool, as:
Fly with the LEGOŽ Star Wars Imperial Landing Ferry [Craft] (75221) to carry reinforcements. Always keep the shooters ready if you encounter resistance. As you arrive at your destination, swing your wings up for a perfect landing. Open the sidewalls, drive off the ramp and let the reinforcements out. Then sit back in the cockpit, close the hatch and fly back to your base!
The minifigures included in this set are Sandtrooper Squad Leader, Sandtrooper, Imperial Shuttle Pilot, R2-D2 and Obi-Wan Kenobi. While purists are reflecting that neither Obi-Wan or R2-D2 were in any scenes with this ship they do help to expand the role play value element from the original scene in A New Hope.
