On top of The Phantom Menace no longer being a teenager, a hootenanny taking place in Chicago, Hasbro rolling out the very first action figured-scaled Jabba's Sail Barge, not one but two Star Wars TV series to enjoy, a deuce of Star Wars theme parks and the third Sequel Trilogy movie coming out in cinemas, the LEGO Star Wars license is turning twenty this year. (So much for Star Wars fatigue, huh?)

And while the highly popular LEGO Star Wars Days has been cancelled (we hope only for this year) LEGO is still going to make 2019 one to be remembered. At the moment they are keeping the full scale of their festivities - which is marked to begin in April to time with Celebration - tight to their chest, some evidence that LEGO is marking the occasion has surfaced.

The first tidbit of testimony comes from a not-quite-officially released LEGO promotional publication in the form of a Polish digital catalogue, hosted on LEGO's own server. Though it doesn't show any of the upcoming post-Winter wave sets (which are available to buy now in bricks and mortar stores as well as all the usual LEGO outlets) it does include the new commemorative logo.

The above logo, it has been remarked, looks like LEGO is displaying its middle finger to someone. Whether it is intentional, or (if it is) who the recipient is it is doubtful we'll ever learn.

The second snippet of information - which should be regarded as rumour for the moment - is that there are a number of retrospective/commemorative sets in the pipeline. Back in October we shared a rumour list that proved to be pretty accurate, and now we are getting word that - in addition to two Resistance vehicles and new "action attack" shooter mini-playsets - there will be at least four commemorative LEGO Star Wars 1999 - 2019 sets based on the original 1999 line-up that was released in March and then in May when Episode I hit the big screen.

According to our well-placed source, one will be 75258 Anakin's Podracer - 20th Anniversary Edition (US$29.99, 279 pieces) and will include Anakin Skywalker, Padme Naberrie and a classic yellow "skinned" minifig. The rest of the sets (numbered 75259, 75261 and 75262) are believed to all include yellow-skinned characters of the original 1999 minifigs. And to add a touch of conjecture to the mix Rebelscum is predicting the other three will be from each of the other Star Wars movies of the era: A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

While there is no hard and fast proof of the existence of these sets we do know that Amazon Italy will be carrying them, as they have just turned up there, reports Hoth Bricks, who add their own speculation in that anyone hoping to see a marketing/promotional event on the scale of 2018's celebrations for the 40th birthday of the minifig and the 60th anniversary of the automatic binding brick will be left wanting. Expect to see "a polybag or two offered under conditions of purchase" is what they are forecasting.
