Hello there,

Star Wars Battlefront series, which may be the most beloved
Star Wars gaming franchise of all-time. Make sure to read our “
Expand Your Mind” article first to read the guide to all the different games, but stay tuned throughout the week for more content. We’ll be including articles, insights, videos, and information on the coolest merchandise you need to put on your wishlist.
The
Star Wars Battlefront series is known as a combat-centric version of the
Star Wars universe; comparatively, games like those in
The Force Unleashed and
Knights of the Old Republic series explored more narrative based stories. However, many of the games within the
Battlefront series also followed individual characters in their experiences across the various galactic combats during the Clone Wars, Galactic Civil War, and Rise of the First Order.
Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron from 2009 featured locations from the Clone Wars, the Dark Times, and the aftermath of the Battle of Endor. Combat abilities continued to improve, but in addition the game introduced a storyline featuring the new character X2. In the narrative version of the game, X2 is a secret clone trooper developed by the Kaminoans to be Force sensitive. His DNA comes from a deceased Jedi Master, and he is dispatched to fight in the Clone Wars with his identical brother X1.
X2 may have been based on a Jedi, but that doesn’t mean he didn’t have the same programming chip that all clones are embedded with. During the Battle of Cato Neimoidia at the end of the war, X2 receives the Order 66 commands and executes his Jedi Master Ferroda. X2 becomes a stormtrooper, but he grows to question the new commands he receives under the Empire. However, X1 isn’t so noble, and pledges his loyalty to the newly crowned Emperor Palpatine.
X2 defects after refusing to kill a Jedi that escaped Order 66, and joins the personal legion of Jedi Master Rahm Kota from
The Force Unleashed series. As Kota’s forces join up with the Rebel Alliance, X2 fights through original trilogy battles on Yavin, Hoth, and Endor. He finds a mentor in Luke Skywalker, who teaches him to hone his force abilities.
Following the conclusion of the Galactic Civil War, the fight for freedom is far from over. Luke has become a General for the emerging New Republic, and he leads legions against the Imperial forces that are scrambling to reassemble in the wake of Palpatine’s death. X2 joins his friend and achieves something that no clone ever had: he became a Jedi Master himself.
What do you think,
Rebelscum fans? Which of X2’s missions was your favorite? Would you like to see him reintroduced in a future
Battlefront game?
